Geno will never be NFL MVP. Ever. He's grown on me, and I really like him but there's a giant chasm between Geno and the likes of Patrick Mahomes. Best outcomes is he is ranked solid top 10 this year. That would be huge.

Here and there
I admire Geno for being the comeback kid. After years as a backup QB, he stepped up when Russ left, and despite doubts, he performed better than expected, keeping the team afloat and proving his worth. He did an incredible job, no doubt.

However, as we look to elevate this team to the next level, I believe Geno has reached his peak. While I think he can guide us through this season—assuming injuries don’t interfere—the future clearly belongs to Howell. John and Mike likely see Howell as the long-term answer at QB, the key to taking this team forward. Mike didn’t come to Seattle to gamble his legacy on an aging QB. He’s here to build something lasting, and Howell is poised to be the QB who leads this team into the future.

Name your stats to consider and we will look at the end of the year. He won't be top 15 let alone top 10.

BTW I absolutely root for him ON the field but he will be the main reason the team fails to either get to or advance in the playoffs.

The MVP is voted on after the regular season and before the beginning of the post season.

If you guys are serious about Geno's chances of winning the MVP, then you also must predict that the Hawks will win a minimum of 13 games in the regular season. The last player to have won the award on a team with fewer wins was Matt Ryan in 2016.
Not in Chicago Their fans think they already won the Superbowl

Cortez Kennedy never won an NFL MVP award.

In 1992, Cortez Kennedy was easily the top vote-getter for DPotY and won the award he richly deserved. He got a single MVP vote, good for fifth in MVP voting that year. Steve Young was the NFL MVP for that season with 56 votes.
MVP awards only go to QBs

Full disclosure: I do like to stir a little when it comes to Geno. Just because it's funny to me how bent out of shape people get over the guy.

He had one good drive and you guys are seriously talking MVP talk? Wow. Slow your roll. Let's see if he can do it for an entire game...
2022 - Week 4 - 23/30 - 320 Yds, 2 TD, 0 INT, 132.6 Rate, NFC Offensive Player of the Week, NFC Offensive Player of the Month, Top Passer of the Week
2022 - Week 5 - 16/25 - 268 Yds, 3 TD, 0 INT, 139.7 Rate, NFC Offensive Player of the Month, Top Passer of the Week
2022 - Week 11 - 27/37 - 328 Yds, 2 TD, 1 INT, 106.6 Rate
2022 - Week 12 - 28/39 - 367 Yds, 3 TD, 1 INT, 116.1 Rate
2023 - Week 2 - 32/41 - 328 Yds, 2 TD, 0 INT, 116.3 Rate, Top 5 Passer of the Week
2023 - Week 7 - 18/24 - 219 Yds, 2 TD, 0 INT, 113.0 Rate
2023 - Week 9 - 31/47 - 369 Yds, 2 TD, 0 INT, 103.9 Rate
2023 - Week 13 - 23/41 - 334 Yds, 3 TD, 1 INT, 97.0 Rate

...and then an entire season. Good grief.
2022 - NFL Comeback Player of the Year, NFL PFWA Most Improved Player of the Year, Pro Bowl, NFC Offensive Player of the Month (October), NFC Player of the Week (Week 4), Top 10 in Passer Rating and QBR.

Honest question: Do you ever engage in these Geno Smith discussions in good faith?

Name your stats to consider and we will look at the end of the year. He won't be top 15 let alone top 10.
Passer Rating, QBR, ANY/A, and Success Rate. (He was, by the way, top 10 or better in all of those in 2022--except Success Rate where he was #11, and top 15 or better in 2023 with the lone exception of passer rating where he was #16.)
BTW I absolutely root for him ON the field...
Press 'X' to doubt.
...but he will be the main reason the team fails to either get to or advance in the playoffs.
He hasn't been so far, so why would he be this time? Like, what could that assertion possibly be based on?
