Because the Hawks were the ONLY team to even give him a chance. How in the world are they "disrespecting" him??? He was offered a nice chunk of change and turned it down. It has been made known that the Hawks offered in that 40 range a year and that he didn't want to engage.
He's a big baby. I don't fault him for wanting to get that bag, players should do that. But he sounds like a whining, spoiled baby.
Russ has been getting blasted for 3 plus years. Why is it surprising that some of us are going to blast Geno?
It was a good thing when Russ was traded, and it's a good thing that Geno was traded. Sometimes you gotta' rip off that band-aid.
Disrespect? Cry me a fricken river, geGONE. Go be a turnover machine that can't beat Top Tier teams in Vegas. Enjoy.

What I think is wadding the collective fan bases boxers, is that Geno demanded respect but didn't show anything that made the fans feel like he was a team player. In all the years I've watched the guy play, I cannot remember a time when he took responsibility for a bad play. Whining at the WR, RB, or TE cuz he threw it to a bad spot. Getting upset when plays were busted because he didn't read the defense right. Letting the other team get under his skin is another thing I noticed.

I admire the QBs that take on the fault of a bad play, even if it wasn't them. It's a mindset. Leaders improve their team by giving the others a boost up. Geno doesn't have that trait.

I think its fair to read into Macdonald's comments about how excited he is for Darnold's leadership. He mentioned it multiple times. Geno just never fit that for me. Was his comment mild? Sure, but its still corny he said it when the Seahawks gave him a chance when literally no one else in the league wanted to. They gave him the ultimate respect and they were smart to not give him top 12 money as he's regressed 3 straight years and is in his mid 30's. From not paying back a rookie teammate who made the league minimum, to pouting on the sidelines, to this etc. I think criticism is fair at times.

This was how I felt when Sherm talked about the Hawks disrespecting him when he left. Maybe it ended badly but this was the team that took a chance on him, made him a starter and let him cash in more than most 5th round picks.

I don't get the disrespect aspect. Every team is in a different situation, and I'd say this is a classic example of that. Good for Geno on the extension and good luck with the whole Raiders' situation. Glad it's not with the Hawks.

I get it, this day and age disrespect comes from not getting what you think your worth, yes he had great statistical numbers and his value based on that may be higher, but what he doesn't account for is his age, most don't since they feel they can keep going, second we didn't do anything when he was here impactful, we won games and were happy for it, but we didn't push higher under him, that gets you bigger contracts. Fans and GM's see these things. Yes he was behind a lousy line and the scheme was messy. May not have been all his fault. But results are results, he got a better contract then before, win a bigger set of games and your paydays reflect that also.

I honestly think Geno was looking for an excuse to get the hell out of Seattle cause Carroll is no longer here protecting him.

So, Geno, made some lame duck excuse by saying Seattle disrespected him. I don’t know how Seattle offering what they did is “disrespecting” a MID tier QB at best much like Soulfish has said!

Good riddance!

Geno, wasn’t bringing Seattle to the Super Bowl and definitely isn’t bringing the Raiders to the Super Bowl!

Geno, should have just been honest and said he was looking for a different type of deal or was offered an opportunity he could not pass up, that’s all!

Oh well, the non clutch Geno is upset with Seattle in whatever way he is does not make me lose any sleep or think Seattle cannot win the same amount of games if not more than what Geno can do.

Goodbye!

When players are talking about respect, it always about the money. The disrespect comes in the form of them feeling like they're being low-balled and not what they are worth. Every single time.
This. I can't imagine JS or MacD just outright being rude and disrespectful in the way they treated Geno as a person ore player.

I think it's hilarious that he's going to a team that is a cellar dweller in possibly the best division in the NFL. Every QB in that division is better than he is. Pete's system is outdated, and they are going to suck. it will be fun to watch Gpick self-immolate as the losses mount and his skills diminish. Raiders fans will be booing him before the end of the season. Book it.
