Great story on Mitch in the Morning today. I wish there was any possible way to capture this or ask any witnesses about it.

We all saw Russell standing on the sidelines with his helmet still on after he was taken out. It turns out he wasn't too happy about coming out, and he wanted to play more, so he stood there next to the coaches with his helmet on, looking just a touch on the pouty side.

Supposedly Marshawn moseys his way over to him and says something like, "wait, YOU'RE SAD!!", and started clowning Russell pretty hard.

We're up 30 some odd points and Russell instead of being happy and laughing, Russell is sad he can't go back in. I think a lot of us who played the game knew a couple guys that have similar personalities to the extremes of both of these guys. I absolutely would have doubled-over had I been on that sideline.

You just don't make fun of the prodigal quarterback, and I don't know anybody outside of Marshawn could have pulled this off.

I'm the same way. Super-ultra competitive. I threw javelin in high school and my coach would beg me to stop practicing because she didn't want me to blow out my arm. If I ever had to stop, I got pretty upset about it.

Although he'll probably never admit it, you can bet Russell wanted to run up the score on the Jags and pad his stats badly ... after all, he wants to be the best.

Imagine how much fun it must be to throw on an opponent at will like Wilson was doing against the Jags. I wouldn't want to go out of the game either. And especially since Wilson had 2 turnovers, they probably left a bad taste in his mouth and he wanted to go do better as much as possible.

I doubt that he wanted to 'run up the score' or 'pad his stats' but I'm sure he didn't want to come out of the game, because he's that kind of competitor. I think he mentioned this in the post game presser. He certainly doesn't come across as a prima donna that pouts about being pulled, though. It's not like he was pulled for poor performance. It may have seemed that way at first blush because he had a couple of bad series at the end, but Jackson could always use actual game work like that.

I love the story about Marshawn teasing him about it. There does seem to be a cohesion around this team the like of which we've seldom seen in years past.

He loves football and loves competing. The off-season is probably far worse for him than it is for any of us, and getting taken out of a game after all that time off is killer. He only gets 16-20 shots a year.

I don't think it has anything to do with wanting to pad your stats or run up the score. But admit it whenever you're kicking ass in a game whether it's a sport or even a video game. Don't we all kind of enjoying kicking ass. If you're for sure going to win, do you really want to leave? hell no..it's fun to kick ass (yes I know it comes at the expense of the other team).

I understand perfectly. I'm the same way. And I'd think for him, as it is for me, that it's not a mindset of "running up the score" even though you obviously know that's what you're doing. It's more like "we need more points. Put more points on the board. I know we're up by a lot, but just a few more points anyway."

I think its funny that Marshawn was like "Wait...Youre sad!" as if it took him a while to realize it. Russ hides it like "Mr. Spok"

Heard about this from Pete the other day. Also, ya know another player that didn't want to come out and actually stayed in the game in a beatdown? Peyton Manning

1. It's the Jags, the game was over, pull him (especially after such a dumb pick).
2. Marshawn is king - don't mess
3. TJ was great in there as well.
4. Nice to have some DEPTH

I wouldn't say he is a stat padding type of person, but he definitely wanted to run up the score. Listening to a few clips (Sound FX and Seahawks All Access) I heard him saying on different occasions during and pre-game that we needed to "blow them out" and that our lead "wasn't enough".

I took it as him wanting to show the world that the Seahawks are for real and that we are more than just a defensive powerhouse. He never wants to let up no matter the score or the situation and Sunday was a perfect opportunity to showcase that.

I have no doubt he wanted to pad his stats. Before his rookie season he told someone, I forget who, he would win RoY. He cares about these things. You better believe there are personal stat goals on his extended list. He sees the hype Manning is getting. He knows he had a shot at 6 or 7 TD passes in that game.

He definitely didn't want to leave with the bad taste of an INT in his mouth. I think he should have been left in so he could redeem himself. You want your starting QB happy and confident. Never leave a gym on a brick.

I also have no doubt he wanted a huge win for the team. One of his overarching goals is to "dominate". He wants Seattle to be the best and he wants everyone in the league to know it. I heard he's the one who came up with the slogan "Leave no doubt".

Pretty funny, and the announcers had a little fun with it too.

I'm sure Wilson wanted to use the time as practice as what better arena for practice.

I actually kinda agree with it, since I have thought the timing with him and the receivers have been somewhat off.

Upon DVRing this game, the moment RW came out...stood out.
It was hard to hear but it sounded like Bevell said to TJ "Even though you don't know what is going on, get" unintelligible from then.
I also saw Giac talk to RW saying something like "Other quarterback" unintelligible...and RW looked pissed.

Pete made the right call. Our pro QB wants to stay in the game cuz that's what he does, but Russ did appear bent.

OK, guys, I guess I sounded like I was claiming some kind of moral superiority in Russ or something. I'm pretty sure we'd all be a bit concerned if he wasn't a bit down about being pulled. I am fine with his competitive spirit, and I don't think that there will be any big negative sprouting from this incident. I find it kind of amusing, really, and it sounds like the players were pretty upbeat about the whole situation.

I think it's partly his youth reacting here, too. A blowout in college is a bit different than a blowout in the pros. A 3/4 TD lead in the 4Q of a pro game is about a 99% guaranteed win (yeah, I know there've been some comebacks, but c'mon, be realistic).

You may be correct, but when I heard Bevell (I assume that's who it was, not 100% on that) telling T-Jack to get ready, it sounded like he said that WE don't know what's going on yet, an insinuation that the coaches hadn't decided if it was time to start putting in backups or not. At least that's how I interpreted it.
