You know Fraley being a former O linemen and O line coach is gonna wanna pound the rock like 90% of the time. So, maybe we keep Geno but allow him to only throw it 5 times per game. It's the perfect compromise for all the Geno debate on this forum. 😂

We are all guessing about the OC candidates. If a team likes a guy enough for a 2nd interview they like him schematically and now to see if he will be a good fit on a personal level hopefully JS is on vacation and will be up to MM to make the decision

I am surprised that neither Kubrick or Udinski have been in for a 2nd interview since they have been scheduled for the past week per the NFL app

i will guess Farley is the front runner going into the 2nd interview

Kubiak I think is the frontrunner in all this, with Udenski 2nd and Frailey at this point being 3rd considering he will either stay with the Lions and get promoted to OC or follow Johnson to Chicago.

It's been rumored that Lions passing game coordinator Tanner Engstrand would take over as OC in Detroit.

I kinda think Fraley is the choice. He, like Kubiak, has that teacher mentality, but what separates him from Kubiak, is he brings a physical mentality that Macdonald has said he wants from his team. Macdonald doesn't seem like a finesse guy, I think he's more of a guy who wants his offense to be simple, but darn near unstoppable because of how physical they are. Doesn't matter if the defense knows what's coming, the question is, can they stop it? I think that's why I would say Udinski is #3 because he seems like more of a finesse type.

I'm thinking the same thing and he will be paired with in house Jake Peetz as passing game co.

And you know this, how?
Context clues and just how things have been silent regarding Frailey. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for Frailey as he's my personal choice, but Kubiak was one of the names brought up quick and instantly had a second interview. Kubiak also checks the box for a lot of people (on here especially) that he has playcall experience.

Udinski (by some) is being touted as a wunderkind kind of choice that he may be the next big thing. Despite no call experience, he's cited as being highly intelligence and has an immense love for the game. John/MM could roll with that if they think it'll make the offense more dynamic, but he has a lot of unknowns.

Frailey is in the best position. He could stay with Detroit. They're proven winners, have a great Oline, and even if he gets overlooked for Lions OC he could feel that he's closer to a championship with Detroit than Seattle. It's also been said because of his lack of playcalling that he'd have to be paired with a Pass Coordinator to help him manage the offense.

If MM is looking for a "second head coach" to basically run the offense while he runs the defense then I'd imagine he want someone that can just come in and do it, and Kubiak would be the most logical choice.

I hear ya. None of us truly know of course. I would think Fraley and Kubiak are 1 and 1a.
Rumors are that Detroit is going with someone else at OC.

I'd still prefer a coordinator with play calling experience and I definitely think we are probably 3rd of 3 in terms of places Fraley is likely to end up, but I mean--we all know our Offensive Line has been the biggest issue for our offense the last couple of years. And while Detroit's OL is good, they are more like a top 10 unit, not top 5 and they were able to produce like they did.

I mean, I'm still apprehensive about how well the guy can actually call an offense, it'd be amazing to have somebody who can get the OL to work better as a unit.
