Both aren't good minus 1 year but one is playing out of position and one is not.

PFF stats

Flowers 50 rating (crap)

Shaq 59 rating (crap)

Flowers 17th in tackles

Shaq 40th.

I mean i never see much on shaq and he was once the 2nd worst cb in nfl. He also has a pro bowl. Before this yr he went 30 games without a pick.

We need to get CBs next yr.

Damn, can't we just be happy for a moment in win and celebrate that the defense actually stepped up and finished the game with a win?

Bobblehead - damn right we can! It's so great to get this win at home against Arizona, and now I have a lovely relaxing Friday arvo to look forward to (just gone 3PM here). GO SEAHAWKS!!!

I'm fine with our corners outside of health. They haven't looked good due to lack of pass rush and everyone playing from behind. Tre Flowers as your 3rd corner isn't bad despite what the board showed tonight.

Flowers needs to spend a week with Mr Sherman, Shaq could go there also, Shaq isn't bad, he just isn't flashy, average.

To be fair, i posted this before game was over because Flowers gets crapped on 24/7 and Shaq always has got a pass.

Flowers allowed 5 catches for 51yda vs Hopkins.

Flowers is better than people are giving him credit for. Hopkins is Elite and Flowers more than kept him in check.

Flowers played better than Peterson.

You are a shaq defender.

He had 1 solid season. A trash season. And whatever seasons.

He barely is better then flowers by PFF

Shaq hasn’t played the last couple of games. So I don’t know why you are bringing him up to defend flowers. They both need to be better. Hopkins stats don’t tell the whole Flowers story tonight.

They dont tell whole story but analysts were praising Flowers. And reason why i bring up shaq? Ppl defend him mostly and crap on flowers but both under 60 PFF.

I'm not sure how much I can trust PFF grades as an accurate evaluation of the corner talent.

I don't say this as an indictment of their grading, moreso as an indictment of the defensive execution across the whole defensive backfield.

The whole secondary has been blowing assignments. Like, constantly. All-star safety Jamal Adams included.

I think Shaquill is a talented player who has the talent to be top-15 at his position. I think Flowers has enough talent to be an average player. I don't think either will play up to that as long as the secondary, as a unit, is in disarray.

That said, Flowers showed some positive stuff on the field today, but missed a few tackles, which is not very on brand for him. He actually played fairly admirably in coverage, which makes sense considering the entire secondary played tighter and more competently this game.

I'm not worried about talent in the secondary. I'm worried about the coaching and execution. But tonight was a step forward, and as long as they continue to play without so many complete busted coverages, we'll get a more accurate idea of what we're looking at talent-wise.

Nicely said. Tonight was a breath of fresh air. Multiple actual pass breakups from our secondary and LBs. Fewer candy-from-a-baby gifts. Happy to see progress.

Apparently Shaquill is one of the fastest players in the NFL. He showed up twice in a list of top speeds players reached, along with DK Metcalf's rundown of Budda Baker.

I think the rule is that even average NFL-level DBs are a valuable commodity, especially healthy ones. Actually good ones are worth their weight in gold.
