first and foremost, my first game as a seahawks game did not disappoint! A few quick observations...keep in mind, this is observations of just THIS game...I dont know all the ins and outs of this team just yet but here is what I saw today..

How can I not start with the guy who is the sole reason why I selected the Seahawks, what a game for Russ Wilson! Here is what I saw about his performace...tremendous pocket awareness...the guy sees pressure, he feels it, evades it, and keeps his eyes up and hits targets down field...Wilson progresses through his reads very well...Loved how Wilson used a great shoulder/pump fake to move the safety to hit a wide open Baldwin down the right sideline..All in all, absolutely terrific performance from the general.

Offensive line - I dont want to take anything away from Lynch...Lynch is a great running back...I love his bruising style..however, the right side of the line in particular opened up MASSIVE running lanes for Lynch...The Rg/RT/ and Te blocking down on the right side did a wonderful job for Lynch...seems to me that the hawks run much better to the left, at least today..sticking with the offensive line, I was a little disappointed with the pass protection. Nothing too crazy, but on multiple occasions, Wilson was rushed out of the pocket...the same guys (rg/rt) who dominate in the run game, also seem to be the weaker side in pass protection...thought the left side of the line did better in pass pro...

Defensive line - i dont know the names of all of these guys just yet...but there is a plethora of guys on this defensive line who can generate pressure...the secondary gets a lot of love from average fans...but its clear as to why the secondary has a chance to play the way they play...the front does a wonderful job...was very impressed w mebane in particular...

secondary - specifically sherman...a little disappointed with this group overall...imo, this unit was the worst unit of the entire team...and thats not much of a knock on these guys considering how well the rest of the team played..sherman had the terrible PI call early...one i dont think the guy even had a chance to catch the ball so it shouldnt have been PI...but 2, it wasnt even necessary for Sherman to even pull the WR...Sherman also got beat on the TD by Wright...not his best performance im sure, but other than those two plays, i thought he played well...

overall, this team is absolutely loaded...i love wilson...i love the brand of football the hawks play...you guys should feel blessed you love this team...this team is really good

anyways...just game one for me..i love what i saw

Welcome home from the dark side.

Pass pro today was better than it has been in a while due to our starting tackles being back though still not spectacular.

I agree with you on the defensive backfield, not a good game for them today. Missing Browner more than we thought we would? The bait pick 6 by Thurmond was a thing of beauty though.

Your assessment of the d-line is spot on. Depth is amazing and we wear other teams out with it. They played well today despite being held often (not called).

Finally Russell Wilson.....I'm 57 years old and have been an extremely rabid Hawks fan "sinceday1" and I gotta tell you, I've been waiting for this kid for 38 seasons. He's very, very special.

I wish the players could get those stupid penalties out of their system. K Davis with the hold, Lockette with the block in the back. Okung had no choice, he was beat and did what a tackle should do, protect his QB and hope the refs miss it.

Others have mentioned it in the past, silly penalties are going to hurt against the better teams. Sherman had a tough day. We will see if Brees brings out the dog in them. I think they play up or down to the competition sometimes.

Okung's probably a bit rusty is all. He'll get even better, and he's also going against Jared Allen, one of the best 4-3 DE's in the game, even at his age.

Welcome, Ijumpedship. I have a couple other teams I kinda like or have soft spots for too, so I won't be one of the fans ripping on "bandwagon fans". Overall, it's a mellower fan base (not at times on this board) compared to other die hard fan bases, but we have just as much passion.

I hope no one keeps ripping on "bandwagon" fans. We're going to get more fans once we started winning. It wasn't like the Patriots had a nationwide fan base until they started winning Superbowls. If I had an owner/GM like Jerry Jones, I'd jump ship too.

Agree with you as usual James. And I do think the LOB will really rise to the occasion vs. the Saints. They'll take it as a personal challenge.
