We locked up Bennett, which required us to cut Red and Clemons. We re-signed McDaniel and allowed McDonald to walk. Breno and Tate were never priorities because they are overvalued by the market, and we already have better and much less expensive players on the roster to fill their shoes (Baldwin and Bowie). We tendered Baldwin and also re-signed McCoy and Jeanpierre.

If you didn't see these moves coming, then you haven't been paying close attention. This is exactly how you build a championship roster.

Seahawks have lost good players but none of the ones they lost are irreplaceable. Those players Lynch, Wilson, Sherman, and Thomas are still there. The core of the team is intact. Besides, PC/JS have proven they can build through the draft. The Seahawks are in a better shape than most other teams. Look at the Broncos, in a couple of years they will be in bad shape with the older players they are shelling big bucks to. Glad Seahawks are being careful and wise about who they sign. Placing premium on players they value highly.

Ironically, losing both starting DEs could actually improve our pass rush as Bennett and Avril's snap counts increase.

Our pass protection, which was arguably the worst in the NFL last season, should also improve as Bailey/Bowie develop. Our offensive line was hit by injuries just about as hard as it has ever been, and we still won a freaking Super Bowl.

Our receiving corp will almost certainly improve if Harvin remains healthy or they add a stud rookie SE.

Depending on health and this draft class, this team has the potential to be even more dominant than it was in 2013.

The first thing that popped into my head when I read the top line was are you Emperor Palpatine? But back to the real topic, yes, everything is going as planned. I could see it during the last 4 weeks of the season and what the team was doing as far as coaching up players when we were in a automatic win scenario. Let the backup peeps in for some warmups time and see what they can do. We are in decent shape for the OTAs and draft at the moment. Plug and play players are up next.

Ruskell was never worthy of my respect. Pete/Schneider just won a Super Bowl in dominating fashion. All of these moves could be seen coming from a mile away. You're just not seeing the forest through the trees yet. Just wait, you will.

Yes! Thank you. Every player that we have lost is either on the decline, or a replaceable product of the system. Keep the true core players, fill roster spots with mid-level and cheap free agents that still have upside, and stack the remaining spots with young hungry athletes.

Every contributor we have lost is either on the decline, or a product of the system. This is good news. "Winning" free agency rarely gets you success on the field anyway.

What the heck? Everything is going perfectly fine. We are losing all of our expiring or replaceable spare parts. This is how you stay in contention, by NOT overpaying free agents.

Perfectly stated, IMO. When the starters (Clemons, Red, Tate, Breno) are not as good as their backups, then you don't waste cap space on re-signing the inferior players.

You naturally open up more opportunities for the more talented players on your roster, and draft depth behind those players.

Harvin will replace Tate as our No. 1.

Baldwin, our No. 2, is far superior to Tate at creating separation. He averages significantly more yards per catch with just as many TDs. And he has better hands with a lower drop rate than Tate. When it mattered most in the playoffs, Baldwin was our No. 1. Baldwin>Tate.

Exactly, and sometimes the players that you draft will break through and be great, at a great price. Their handling this perfectly while too many fans are panicking. Thank god our GM is not a "fan".
