Geno's injury and our inability to stop anyone on defense are the only reasons we weren't a playoff team last season. The post-Russ rebuild is over. They've substantially upgraded the defensive line, got younger and faster in the back seven, and brought in a young defensive guru to patch up a bottom-25 unit. This probably is the best situation for a new head coach. In theory, all the pieces are there for a deep playoff run.

It's all about the trenches boys. I can't speak on how much improved we will be on the interior of our OL this season but I suspect it won't be worse than last year. And boy oh boy let me tell you, our DL is going to be KILLING IT this year. That alone makes me think we are two games better than last year which equals 11-6.

Haynes and Williams provide some support that the interior OL can be better. Getting Lucas at full strength would settle my stomach so Fant can back up either T postion.

We have an embarrasment of riches on the D Line right now.

Bring on Denver!!!!

It's a good situation for MacDonald to come into, outside of not having a franchise QB. I think we're solidly in the 2nd tier of the NFC behind Philly, SF, Green Bay, and the Lions, and the playoffs are certainly possible this year.

We’ll see. I think you may be right there, but there is a big difference from being very successful as a coordinator compared to a head coach and that’s been proven many many many times in the league. Not saying you will be wrong but don’t want to get my hopes up.
Best way in is all the way in bruddha.

Not “just the tip”.

As I’ve matured (i.e., got old as fu*k), I’ve learned that believing your team is going to wreck shit is the best way to go.

You never know!! I too believe MM is THAT DUDE. He gives off an aura of confidence and determination.
