The Hawks were literally the ONLY team that gave this guy a chance. That should count for something. And if it doesn't, then it says a little about Geno.
He seems to have grown up big time. Throw in some incentives, if he earns them, then the team is winning.

Geno's very athletic, based on his combine stats and even recent eyeball test, he is still lean and reasonable fast. Looked like he either has great genes or took care of his body, not just talk about taking care of his body but actually doing it. He can also function as a pure pocket passer. Based on his athleticism and ability to play pocket passer, plus less wear and tear, Geno could play at decent level for quite a few more years. Rich Gannon retired at 39? Geno is only 32, he could be Pete Carroll's last QB.

You have to think that Geno at 32 has gotten hit way less than other starters around the league that are his age. Since he hasn't had that many starts. Of course, age and practice are gonna take its toll, but maybe Geno still has good years in front of him. Perhaps even his best since he's been inactive.

During Russ's years with us, I always wonder WHY the Hawks never drafted any legit QB to backup Russ, start someday, or even as trade asset (a la Jimmy G). I found out the hard way when team 3 publicly complained when John went to scout Mahomes and Allen before those two were hot prospects. It was Wilson's insecurity and Pete's effort to protect Russ that prevented us from doing the right thing.

I doubt Geno has the same problem? We could look into drafting project QB that need some developing.

Assuming Geno continues as he has, I have little doubt that he will get a decent contract. I doubt if he will be one of the highest QB in the league, but his pay will certainly increase significantly.

I also have little doubt that he will be in any other uniform other than a Seahawk uniform. It makes absolutely no sense to let him escape to another team. He has proven quite capable of running the offense, he knows the offense, he gets along well and has the trust of the other players on the team, PC seems to have plenty of faith in him, and he has all of the mechanics teams look for in a QB. Having been a college coach for a number of years, I'm pretty sure PC knows the pitfalls of breaking in a new QB, especially someone new that has does not know the system. Remember, Geno had plenty of time to learn the system as a backup. If PC thinks Lock can be successful in their system, I would not be surprised if they do not even draft a QB unless it is a late "best player available" type of pick.

Pay the man. Is it a bit of a gamble? Sure. But with the rookie class balling out like this, and the abundance of draft picks in next year’s draft, there is a chance to go on a legendary run the next few years.

Geno got so much game because of years of watching great QBs ahead of him. I think he has enough sense of karma to mentor a QB we take in the next draft, and be cool about it the guy taking his job at some point.
