Wrong; and don't overestimate yards. TDs are more important.

Also keep in mind that with a run-first team, (and practically a run-only team the first 6 games last year) plus great special teams play giving us shorter fields, Tate had a very good year last year. Better than at least 3 of Boldin's years. Tate has been slow to develop, but one thing he does have is about the best set of hands in the entire NFL. In 2011, he was the only receiver in the NFL to not drop a pass, (qualifying receivers having 50 targets minimum) and last year was in the top 10. Boldin has great hands, too; but my point is, Tate has arrived, and you'll see that in his performance this year.

Well...

1) I only see ONE year that he was more productive and Boldin was hurt for a good portion of the year.
2) ...and Boldin DIDN'T play in a run oriented O in Baltimore? Its not a coincidense why his numbers took a fairly sharp decline when he switched teams. Hell, their OC was FIRED last year and Boldins numbers were MUCH better after the change.
3) I won't argue Tate arriving. I'm not a fan, but that doesn't mean he's not becoming a good player.

Only Seahawk fans would say Tate is a better player than Boldin. Maybe 2-3 years from now, but not this season or any of the past seasons.

I would bet on Tate being better this season. He has a better QB and Boldin has never been a good number one guy.

I agree with this - but it also depends on which Boldin the 49ers get. Are the 49ers getting regular season Boldin (65 catches for 921 yards and 4 TDs) or postseason Boldin (22 catches for 380 yards and 4 TDs)?

I am happy with either Boldin and either Boldin is better than Tate was last season.

Ignorant post. You are seriously just trolling now, or can't fathom numbers. In the regular season, Tate's 7 TDs are better than Boldin's 4. You are vastly overvaluing the extra 233 receiving yards Boldin had on the year.

?

I'm sorry Roland, but you act like there is some exact equasion that shows that 233 yards > 3TDs. Really?

You are also ignoring that Boldin had 4 more TDs...in 4 playoff games.

I'm not going to try and argue how much better Boldin is, but it doesn't make someone ignorant to have the opinion that Boldin > Tate. I would think that most people would have that opinion.

What makes it ignorant is his spewing that Tate's never had a season as bad as Boldin's worst one, and while there's no formula for converting yards to TDs like that, I agree, why don't you go ask Megatron if he'd prefer to go back in time to 2012 and cut his total yards in half to gain some more TDs and wins in games from those TDs? I'm pretty sure he'd do it in a heartbeat.

I guess....but its not like we are talking about a 10 TD difference. We are talking about 3 of them.

I don't think its ignorant to say that every healthy season Boldin played was arguably better thanTates last season. Its just an opinion. You can say apples and oranges, but it remains a fact that Tate has never had a yardage total as high as Boldin in any healthy season.

If we want to break down to the level of more TDs means better season, then we should also add Boldins postseason performances. I don't want to do that...I'm just sayin it doesn't require ignorance to hold his opinion. :D

Go ahead, they end up tied. 8 TDs each, and Boldin had two extra games played, and way more receptions. Including the postseason, Boldin had 87 receptions and 8 TDs, which works out to be 1 TD for every 10.875 receptions. Tate had 55 receptions and 8 TDs for 1 TD for every 6.875 receptions. Tate puts points on the board at a much higher rate than Boldin.

Feed Tate the ball more. That's what those stats say.

Boldin is a great WR and I love the way he plays. That being said (if we are talking about a head to head matchup)...he is the type of WR we have no problem shutting down. The quick, shifty players typically give us more problems (remember Titus Young last year? Barf). The problem I see with Boldin this year is you are asking him to be a go to guy #1 receiver. Can his body hold up? Is he motivated? Who is taking the pressure off him? Marlon Moore? Jon Baldwin? Kyle Williams? I love Boldin, but I think the expectations for him seem to be a touch high.

.....

Missing the point.

Does Tate score more points per catch? Sure. Does that = Better season? No. Is it a factor? Yes.

More yards means he got the team in position to score more often. More first downs. More extended drives....etc..... You can also say Tate had a better OC since Baltimore fired theirs and soon after Anquan exploded.

We can do this all day, but none of that is the point. The point is that there is no formula to say a TD = X number of yards so it isn't ludicrous for him to say that Tate has never had a more productive season. Its a matter of opinion.

If I said that Michael Crabtree had a better season than CJ because Crab scored 9 times and CJ only 5....you'd tell me I was nuts. You'd be right.

Are we really arguing who the better receiver is right now? Today? C'mon, Boldin had that great postseason against some really suspect secondaries. New England, San Francisco, Indianapolis...

Don't revert to the Niners being a great defense because they were FAAAAAAR from that last January. They were garbage and got worked by an old man. He's not doing that on Sherm and Browner. At least not over and over and over again.

I've always loved Anquan, especially living in Phoenix, and he'll win some battles for balls, but he's not going to light anyone up in this division. I know, the talk is that he looks great, but remember he's going against a bunch of average corners and safeties in practice.

You could use the argument that he's a slot guy, but he's not gonna be this year. He doesn't get to own the middle if SF expects him to be a real number one type guy.

OK. We'll see.

BTW, I wasn't arguing either way....only saying it's not ludicrous to even make the suggestion.

I remember him in Arizona, see my signiture for how Kenny Hamlin treated him then. Kam hits harder then Ken, Boldin was never the same for a while after that hit.

Quinton Patton just threw a move on someone to score a TD off a bubble screen from Kaepernick.
