Holani would be the presumptive 3rd stringer after Walker and Charbonnet. We didn't see much of him last year. After him we have three rookies: a 7th rounder, and two UDFA. The rookies are complete unknowns at the NFL level. I may have overstated our talent - I am happy with either Walker or Charbonnet starting. I would also have been fine with McIntosh. I'll be worried if we get down to Holani or the rooks.

McIntosh was a seventh rounder at one time too. There's no reason to think Martinez can't step into his role. We just need to see him in live action.

Hoping for the best, but expecting some regress. It isn't that Sam doesn't have the WRs the Vikings have, I mean JSN and Kupp are pretty darned good, but I think the biggest change is Sam doesn't have KOC running the show. We have a Defensive HC, and I just don't think that's a great fit for Darnold. KOC was a master play caller, and it remains to be seen whether Kubiak can be at KOC's level.

He had a piss poor outing against the Raiders and muffed 2 kick returns. Holani on the other hand was quicker, more decisive and allowed for the blocks to develop before darting through the hole. Martinez needs to pull his head out if he wants a roster spot. Was he stoned on cannabis before the game?

Yep, he's going to need a bounce back game on Friday. It was a weirdly disappointing game for him.

Lots of Rookie running backs look awful in their first game. That being said, I think a lot of the Martinez hype was over the top. He was a late round RB. Lots of bust potential in that draft position. It's rare to find a Chris Carson there. Much more likely to find a JAG or worse.

Its not hard to imagine that he won't put up the same numbers considering the weapons here vs there.

Another 40 TD season seems highly unlikely but that doesn't means HE will have regressed.

I think its safe to say that this will be the same type of offense but he loved targeting Jefferson so I expect him to make JSN into a mega WR.

JSN will have an all time season for the ages.

Hawks Baby YEAH!

I expect us to run the ball to an extent that will prohibit Darnold from matching his Vike stats. But it is the W/L numbers that most interest me. I am rooting for Darnold to hold sway in that regard even if it is a longshot play. Darnold doing well = more time for Milroe to round into top form.
Nearly every RB we put in the game outperformed Martinez. Tyus only got a few snaps but he looked good doing them. THEN came W for the win!

Damien Martinez needs to get his ass in gear.

One pre-season game and people are acting like the Martinez sucks. Still a lot to be determined.

Oh no question.

I'm just saying that I hope he's chomping at the bit to get back out there in the next Preseason game and have a better showing.

The way he ran in college, I'm expecting more as well. Dude had no problems knocking fools out with his runs.

I'm just saying he sucked during that one pre-season game.
Matinez has shown better during practice but it didn't translate on game night. That will not help his standing, especially because other candidates DID produce positive results when they got their chance.
