Hopefully a sign that Dissly's rehab is progressing well.

I'm expecting this is the first of several to go, for the reason noted.
It's gonna take some space to snag both Clowney AND Griff (unless the draft goes as hoped).

It's going to take cap space just to sign one of these two and lots of cap space to sign both. It's a sign however that something may now happen on the DE front.

Yes I don't think it's a coincidence that both Dickson and Thompson were released today, should mean a big signing is imminent.

No doubt. They took a chance on a solid TE who is known as one of the best blocking TE in the game. It just didn't work out unfortunately. No way for the front office to know they guy would turn in to Mr. Glass. Makes you appreciate Hollister even more.

I was thinking Hollister was starting material for a while there. Seems like he regressed a bit toward the end with some costly mistakes. Still excellent TE depth.

Probably more of a sign that Hawks are trying to sign, Clowney and the other fella.

For some reason I thought this was gong to free up more cap space. Well, I thought cutting Dickson was going to. I didn't expect much savings from T2.

It's common sense to chalk this up to random luck if you consider that A) Ed Dickson played in 124 of 128 games over eight seasons prior to signing with the Seahawks, and B) he was healthy at the time when we signed him.

We have had poor luck at the position when you combine this with Dissly's injuries, and as I've argued elsewhere I think drafting a TE is completely feasible given our current roster and the new 55 man roster limits. Having two jobs (one active, one inactive) available for Hollister/Willson/Rookies/UDFAs is reasonable competition.

Shoot, they needed an actual good blocking TE, as Graham basically refused to do it in his time here. He never was an injury prone player in his career. It's tough to blame the front office for that one. Shoot, they get enough blame for moves, and sometimes it's justified. But it seems with Dickson, it's way too easy to say after the fact that it was a horrible decision. Obviously, it didn't work out. But at the same time, they made up for it with Hollister. Losing Dis was a way bigger loss than any other TE on this squad. He not only was productive, but it was like having an extra lineman imo.

Admittedy a big if, but IF you have confidence our new signees and draftees can replace what we've had, you an add up the savings of losing Woods Q Jeff, Ifedi, Iupati, maybe even Britt, along with Prosise...a couple restructured contracts, and wallah! You an see a potentially significant increase in $ available, right?

Not really. Almost all of those players were free agents so they haven't been factored into the reported cap numbers. So there is no "savings" when they leave.

ED was getting released no matter what..He just didn't work out.
Hollister for his first season did a great job and should get better.
