On the modern era list. Oddly, only from 2 positions. 4 at Running Back, 3 at Safety. Shaun Alexander, Marshawn Lynch, Chris Warren, Ricky Watters, Kam Chancellor, Eugene Robinson, and Earl Thomas.

Honestly surprised Kam and paticularly Warren made it even this far. I figure Marshawn and Earl will definitely get in eventually, and Ricky and Shaun have outside shots.

Edit- Whoops! I missed Julian Peterson at LB. Had his best years in Seattle.
Edit 2- Don't know how I missed Eugene Robinson, too.

I am happy to see Kami’s name on the list. I have always doubted that he’d get in but feel he deserves to even with a shortened career.
His value will always be underrated by stat whores. LoB died when Kam was forced to retire. He was the heart of that group.

Nice showing. Kam is an interesting one...If I only had one vote, Kam would get it (Lynch a close #2). But longevity usually outweighs other criteria for the early candidates (e.g. Easley). If there was a "presence" stat...Kam would be off the charts.

I liked Warren, but really surprised he made it this far and probably not a viable candidate. Earl/Lynch/Alexander should all be in with the remaining being worthy but prob not likely. But WTF do I know.

Lynch should. His stats are good relative to the modern era. If it's a hall of game, he's as famous as it gets. Was one of the leagues biggest stars at his peak

Kam might have a Kenny Easley situation where he gets in later with a further evaluation.

Can't see Earl due to how it ended in Baltimore and career length

Thomas played 10 years, and was the best safety in football for 5 of them. He'll get in. I think Lynch gets in on his SB title and the Beastquake. 10,000 rushing yards isn't enough on it's own. Look at Jamal Lewis, Thomas Jones, Ottis Anderson, Ricky Watters.

Not to be a downer.. but I believe not one of these Seahawks players get any serious consideration. Only Lynch may get a glance, but as it was stated.. stay mongers will pass.

Kam redefined the SS position and deserves that gold jacket IMHO.
Earl will eventually make it. He was too dominant at his peak to ignore.

I think Marshawn's playoff resume is a big plus in his favour, and hopefully the voters dive into that. I believe the number is, and I could be wrong, that he has 4-5 playoff rushing touchdowns of 25+ yards. His contemporary, Adrian Peterson, is a no doubt Hall of Famer, and Masrahwn's playoff/clutch resume blows Peterson's away; as Peterson was largely a dud in the playoffs.

I’ll be surprised if anyone other than Lynch makes it in. He was the face of the NFL, despite the NFL wishing it wasn’t so. He is still adored by fans of other teams, and still remembered and respected even by our rivals. Beastquake is going to remain on highlight reels for a long time yet to come.

Earl has an outside chance.

Lynch will make it in for the reasons Doc described above. Kam has a shot but probably will have to wait awhile. Alexander and Watters and ET as well. Not sure on Warren or Robinson.

Is it next year Sherman is eligible? Guessing he is a lock assuming he doesn't keep getting DUI's. Wagner will be a lock whenever he retires.

Pete probably will but not for a while.

Isn't there a glut of safeties to go in that haven't before Thomas would be considered? I don't have a list. Would you consider Lawyer Milloy a hall of famer? Long career and has a ring

I think Thomas might have a shot at being a first ballot HOFer. He was ubiquitously considered the best safety for a good amount of time by all of the pundits. He has 7 probowls and 3 all pros, in addition to a 4th all pro as AP2. He also was the DPOTY in 2013, the year the Hawks went to the SuperBowl. The LOB doesn't get to be the LOB without Thomas. He allowed our corners to play extremely aggressive press coverage, as well as let Kam play in the box. His range and ability to be anywhere at a moments notice made the whole defense work. He was considered the best safety of his generation.

The only potential issues I see with Earl are his off the field antics and bizarre behavior. Those are how he was remembered in his final years in the NFL and as we know, the HOF is about the stories as much is it is about the performance.

Kam Chancellor? I don't really see it. He wasn't even the best SS in his generation and he didn't have great longevity. He certainly was more than the summation of his stats. There is no way he is first ballot HOFer though. No AP1 all pros, only four probowl nominations. Chancellor was great and my favorite LOB member, but I don't think he has the credentials to get in this year.

Lynch is a questionable one. On one hand, there are hardly any players that got more coverage than this man during his time. His enigmatic personality and DGAF I'm going to do what I do demeanor really spoke to people. He never was putting up a front, Lynch was Lynch for better or for worse and that resonated with people. Even our rivals liked his hard hitting running style and never backdown mentality. The press loved this man because you never knew what was going to happen in a press conference or during games. He was a walking story.

Lynch, if he does get in is certainly due to his cult of personality. He also had some of the biggest playoff runs that we've ever seen. He was also considered the leader of the offense during the Super Bowl runs. To this day we still hear "should've given the ball to Lynch". The flipside of things is if we look at stats, he's well behind many guys in front of him, even our very own Shaun Alexander.
