INTs are less common than in the old days right? It's so much easier for QBs and offenses in general.

Here's a little comparison of what some of the best safeties over the past decade did in their first 8 seasons:

Earl Thomas - 642 total tackles, 63 passes defensed, 25 interceptions, 10 forced fumbles

Brian Dawkins - 547 total tackles, 44 passes defensed, 21 interceptions, 10 forced fumbles

Troy Polamalu - 515 total tackles, 71 passes defensed, 27 interceptions, 8 forced fumbles

Darren Sharper - 468 total tackles, 61 passes defensed, 36 interceptions, 6 forced fumbles

Ed Reed - 381 total tackles, 70 passes defensed, 46 interceptions, 9 forced fumbles

Ed Reed was something else man.
Reed was absolutely amazing, but in my opinion Earl is a better safety overall. Reed picked off balls at an incredible rate but Earl is asked to do waaaay more than Reed was as evident by the tackles numbers. Earl has as many tackles in his first 8 years as Reed put up in his entire 12 year career.

If Earl gets to the HOF I hope it's in a Dallas uniform. Cry me a river over your mistreatment by the Seahawks.

Lets just go ahead and get rid of all the bad blood. Give me 11 men on defense who punch the clock, go to work and appreciate the gift they've been given.
