Draft is Gonna be Interesting

I will root for a trade up. Need to get between 14 and 18 for a solid player. I don't know what that would cost. Future pick would be ok. I would pair S Thieneman of Oregon with Emmanwori. The second pick I would position to draft guard Pregnon. Thirdly I would grab RB Coleman late. It's very doable and aggressive like last year I would pair Coleman and Wilson. Two thick explosive backs

The advantage you have with the 32nd pick is the fifth year option for first round picks. It’s actually a very valuable pick!

True. The counter to that is the 2nd round pick being cheaper but being flush in cap space that shouldn't be a factor. The bigger factor will be if John wants more picks. His explanation in the past for trading out late in the first round has been that the team has a first round grade on a certain number of players and if none of them are available they trade out.

If this draft is a weak one, would it be a good idea to trade the 1st for Achane. He is eligible for a new contract and maybe JS can work some magic there.

Only way I move JSN is if he is on the wrong side of 30 years old. I’m keeping JSN for all of his prime years.

I keep seeing pods and talk radio saying JS loves next years class, and has been collecting picks for that class. And this year, he’s not overly excited over the class. So I imagine if he likes Price at 32, he will take him. Because having a couple extra picks of guys you don’t think are going to help the team, doesn’t seem like something he would do.

And right now it says we are projected to have 12 picks in 2027.

Last year, all of JS's picks up to the 7th round got playing time. If you're hitting on every pick, having 4 is less of an issue. It also provides options on moving if you have some confidence in the evaluation work.

Additionally, UDFAs will (should) be pretty excited to possibly play on Seahawks ST: Shaheed, Horton, Dickson, Myers. That's a privilege as opposed to a let-down on most other teams.

With having only four picks and the lowest draft slating, it's a great time to sift through the hidden gems, small school sleeper prospects.
Being drafted in the 7th round or signed as an undrafted FA might mean longshot but doesn't mean it's impossible to succeed.

Case in point :

It would make sense because this Draft is weak as hell.

It's all about getting quantity instead of Quality in this particular Draft, imo.

Keep in mind that we re-signed 13 of our 18 FA. The only starters we lost were K9 and Bryant. We have capable starters behind both. There are not starting opportunities on this team for rookies.

The biggest hole on this team is at OLB where Lawrence is on the cusp of retirement and his backup (Mafe) left in FA.

Slightly less important are CB and S which need depth as well.

Drafting a RB would be a luxury, not a priority, because until they learn protections they won’t see the field — an advantage the 7 other RB already on the roster will have in training camp. Any draftee would be a 2027+ project.

Furthermore, MM favors RBBC so we will not trade nor pay for a bell-cow back. Case in point: the only time Walker was ever given 20+ carries was in the Superbowl.

Replacing Walker means replacing 15-19 carries per game, not replacing the engine of the offense.

I know it contrary to Fanstasy Football logic, but we need role players and depth more than we need stars. Also, there are long term concerns where we need guys for 2-3 years down the road to coach up and ease into our system. Those are the guys you find in rounds 3-7, so more picks in that range make a lot of sense this year.

Our Running Back room is full of role players and depth at the moment, though.

Hopefully Price is still there at 32 (and JS drafts him) 'cause we don't have a RB1 right now (especially with Charbs out for a good portion of next season, too).
