I posted this in the "Have you seen this" thread, but maybe more appropriate here.
DK is a headcase. Has been from the start. I would argue he's a detriment to this team.
I saw in another thread someone say they would only consider trading DK if a team offered two 1st round picks. I think they would be lucky to get a 2nd rounder.
He's going to demand a big money contract which lessens his value to another team. And it's common knowledge around the league that he can be taken out of his game when an opposing DB gets in his head. Who's going to give up a first rounder for that?
Add in the drops, fumbles, stupid frustration and drive killing penalties, holding penalties, bad and lazy route running, taking plays off, cheap shots on opposing players, and pouting on the sidelines like a child. The binky is very appropriate. He's a child in a man's body.
Another thing that really hurts this team is Geno constantly forcing the ball to him in tight coverage when other receivers are running wide open. Whether that's Geno or the coaching staff, no one really knows except them. But there's no doubt in my mind that at least part of it is them trying to appease him to try to keep him under control, knowing he's going to lose his head and hurt this team even more if they don't. If they don't force the ball to him and give him the targets he feels he deserves, (even though he doesn't), there will be even more frustration penalties and pouting on the sidelines. He's the epitome of a selfish "me first" player and it hurts this team in a big way.
I'm absolutely convinced this would be a better offense without DK on it. Spreading the ball around versus forcing the ball to DK in tight or double coverage will allow for a more cohesive and consistent offense. And the occasional spectacular plays he makes in no way make up for all the negative stuff. Not even close.
He needs to go. He's far from the only problem this team has, but without a doubt, he's one of the problems, possibly a big one. A selfish player with a bad attitude, particularly one that's very vocal like DK, can poison a team & locker room.
Some will argue that he's a leader on this team. Well, a leader doesn't embarrass the entire organization by pouting on the sidelines on national tv. A leader doesn't grab a coach's headset so he can yell at the OC. He's out of control.
If JS extends him and pays him like a WR1, it will be one of their biggest mistakes in a long time.
