Yesterday on 710, Wyman/Mike/Moore were actually debating the "chance" whether or not Doug Baldwin will make the roster this season.

Crazy talk! I know they are looking for every angle to discuss the team, but come on.

If anything, I think Baldwin is going to kill it this season. He is healthy, is more familiar with Wilson and will have an abundance of opportunities with defenses focused so much on Harvin, Rice, Tate, Wilson, Lynch and Miller. Baldwin stands to benefit from favorable match-ups, especially when we go 4 and 5-wide.

Rice, Harvin, Tate, Baldwin and Harper is a pretyy strong group. Dougie Fresh isn't going anywhere.

Yeah, crazytalk indeed. Baldwin's going to have a breakout year, period. He'll prove the injury-prone label nonsense.

Who makes it ahead of Harper? Stephen Williams?

Don't say Kearse, lol...unless he had a hand transplant this off-season.

I think Baldwin is fine this season. I think he is an RFA next year, so I can see him being tendered next season. Tate vs Rice is the bigger question for next year, unless the Seahawks shock us with some out of left field move. There is close to 20M/yr tied up in Rice and Harvin, though spread out in some cap magic. Baldwin's impact is miniscule in comparison as far as cap.

Harper was a 4th round pick, I'd be very surprised if he is not on the roster for this season.

Rice
Harvin
Tate
Baldwin
Harper

if we keep 6 WR's there will be some good competition for that spot but with injuries at TE and DL we would be better keeping extra at those positions.

WR is going to be an interesting battle. We have the big three in Rice, Tate and Harvin.

Then you have Baldwin, who is reportedly looking very sharp. Keep in mind, Baldwin usually looks sharp in shorts and other than pulling a hammy, it's hard to get hurt this time of year. Baldwin doesn't get a lof of sprains/pulls/twinges that some guys are experiencing. Dougie gets hurt when the pads go on and bodies start slamming around.

Harper has looked good in OTA's (once again, different in shorts) but he brings a different skill set than any other Seahawk WR. He's big and physical, kind of a Boldin lite. His game probably translates to pads the best. I'd think he makes the team.

THen you have that guy from AZ we picked up who's 6'5". I can't remember his name, but JS was very excited to sign him. I haven't heard anything about the guy in OTA's (obviously, since I can't remember his name) but this was the guy that Fitzgerald had singled out as having the potential to be the most improved this year.

And we have Charly Martin and Kearse. These guys just hang around. Martin catches everything thrown at him in practices, and Kearse gets open with seeming ease, he just drops stuff.

Not all these guys will make the roster. Everyone from Baldwin on down is expendable.

That's Stephen Williams.

Baldwin is guaranteed to be on this roster this year and probably the next.

Are we all just going to ignore the fact that he's been getting glowing reviews from everyone (coaches, media, RW) during OTAs and the first day of mini-camp? Everyone is saying he looks explosive this off-season. IMO, this isn't even a topic worth discussing. Pete has consistently talked about Baldwin as a guy who is in their plans for the season -- even going as far as saying Doug was proving in practice why they were going to play him in the fall, even with Harvin in the mix.

No, we are not ignorning it....hence this thread supporting him. Some of the mediots and talking heads seem to think he may be expendable.

He had a much better season in 2011, but I think he comes back strong this season.

Yup, Williams. Thanks Greg.

And no, we're not ignoring Baldwin. I think he's an above average WR that creates mismatches against most nickle CBs in the league. Like I said, he looks good now, but he gets hurt, repeatedly, when he puts pads on. I'm just curious if he can stay healthy. If he can, then he'll make the team.

Thing is, you have Harvin and Tate. Both are the same size, give or take. Both have similar skill sets. Baldwin is also the same size, but not as explosive. He has a different skill set, but now you have 3 guys on the team all 5'10" or 5'11". Williams brings something different. Harper brings something different still. Pete goes with results, which is why Baldwin will stick, but I can see them wanting a guy that brings something different to that 4th WR spot.

And if Baldwin gets hurt again, he's done. You can have all the talent in the world, if you have to keep relying on a less talented 5th WR because your 4th is constantly hurt, it doesn't matter how much talent that 4th guy has.

Sorry, the "we" was more directed at the local media/uninformed fanbase who deem this a worthy topic of discussion. Obviously, his numbers dropped last year, but he also missed the last off-season and got banged up throughout the year. People who watched the games (vs. NE and SF, in particular) know what he's capable of. A player like Baldwin, on his rookie contract, would never clear waivers. He's a proven commodity in the league and on this team, and he's certainly part of the reason our receiver group is now considered one of the best and deepest around.

Luckily for Harper besides Rice and Williams he is a Big body guy , but that's the only going for him. He just hasn't impressed me at all . Hopefully that will change come Pre-season

Dude, he's been in the league for two years. He played his entire rookie season and got a little dinged up in the second, but still played almost all of it. It's amazing how fast fans will write off a guy as injury prone.

Harper making the team is almost a certainty. If you listen to PC's presser yesterday you would have heard that A) He's focusing on Split End thufar, but that by the end of training camp he'll be playing multiple spots. B) That's he's learning quickly and that he's making progress. C) PC said he'd be a factor this year.

So I highly doubt a guy on the bubble would get so much praise out of his headcoach.

This roster is about competition. we have 10 WRs fighting for 2 spots. Including Baldwin(I think Baldwin makes the team ). Harper is 100% on the bubble. . Since PC and JS have taken over a mid round draft pick didn't make the roster. I'm just guessing that Chris Harper is that guy.

Harper will be here, Pete's always targeted a guy like him for some time, first it was BMW, now its Harper.

Baldwin is kind of a lotta a really good receiver who can make almost every catch there is to make, i'd be surprised if he doesn't make this team.

There was another in between those two. Braylon fits the type.
