I can't tell you how important it is that Hall make a significant jump this year. He wasn't cheap (draft capital). I know edge is a usually a position with a steep learning curve at the pros, but we need to see substantially more impact.

I love the attitude. I love the work ethic. I love his story of overcoming adversity. Now it's time to see results. Fingers crossed that Mac can put him in the best position to excel.

Hawks have used a lot picks on pass rushers the last 5 years and almost none have lived up to their draft position

Sure hope to see a lot more from this young player this season.

All in all so far he's been a tad underwhelming but then again It frequently takes edge rushers a few seasons to figure out all their moves and countermoves and get stronger..

Sad but true. It's even more frustrating when you see guys on rival teams, ex. Turner & Young on the Rams, have the kind of production that Taylor & Hall should've had.

We are about to get a fairly good answer to the "was it the scheme/coaches?" question(s), I think.
I think you are right, and I also think Coach MM is just the right medicine to fix whatever ails Hall. He was one of my favorite picks and I have high hopes for him going forward.

In Tuesday's practice, Hall flashed on several snaps during the team session, collapsing the pocket quickly on two different occasions with a powerful bull rush. His best play came against the run, however, as he threw jarring hands off the snap to knock back the opposing tackle before crashing inside to devour Walker for a one-yard loss.

Taking notice of his teammate's growth, Nwosu raved about Hall's development, citing his focus and leadership as the two areas where he has improved the most this offseason.

"He's hungry, he's ready to go out there and prove what he can do," Nwosu said. "From the offseason training he's put in to now, you can see it out there, he's more committed than ever. Last year being a rookie for him, he was just going with the flow, listening, and taking the coaching. But now he's taking the next step leading, teaching the younger guys how it is done, and impressing these coaches more and more."

I've never seen Hall as a liability, the little they used him. No doubt he hasn't lit up the stat sheet so far...but I also don't see him getting blown out or lost in plays.

My gut says we drafted well, but failed to utilize strengths with the talent. It also says MM will change that.

1st preseason game 10 days away.

Hall just like Mafe live on the other side of the scrimmage whether it is run or pass play. The added bonus is that Hall isn't going to be asked to do a lot since the team has Mafe, Nwosu and Taylor.

It's frustrating to see the Rams succeed, but Turner and Young are well above what can generally be expected from their draft slots on average. We can't count on that type of thing as a given.

Player development is a process.

"Now three weeks into his second training camp, Hall's offseason efforts have manifested into vastly improved performance on the practice field. Still playing with excellent physicality and a motor that always runs above 100 degrees, he has stonewalled several runs in padded practice after holding serve off the edge and continued to find success overpowering tackles as a bull rusher.

But where Hall's growth has been most evident has been with the aforementioned hand usage, as he no longer looks like a one-trick pony and has started to assemble an impressive collection of pass rushing moves. Whether powering past a defender with a rip/dip combination, shooting a gap with a quick swim move, or clubbing down on an opposing blocker's arms off of an initial long arm, he has developed several quality counters that, while they remain a work in progress, have propelled his rise as one of the most improved players on the roster." 👉 https://www.si.com/nfl/seahawks/sea...ass-rush-shine-in-seattle-seahawks-new-scheme

Well... we'll definitely see if it was coaching (lack of, poor, lack of leadership, not trying or other) or not with a lot of players this year.
