Everyone is coming up with nick nsmes for the defense. I got the perfect name. “The Wolfpack” We play and hunt and tackle like a freaking pack of Wolves.

To be fair, fans came up with Legion of Boom. The players embraced it pretty quickly though, and the rest is history.

I think the team (Defense) officially calls itself The Dark Side. Which makes our offense nickname, The Sunny Side Ups.

They had a segment on 950 KJR (or 710?) for fans to call in with nicknames for the defense. Someone suggested Legion of Boom, as a reference to Kam saying the defense liked to bring the boom (also a reference to Legion of Doom from the WWF days). It was also dropped on Twitter as a suggestion around the same time, not sure which was first. Players apparently saw/heard that and liked it, and started using it shortly after.

It was 710 (Bob Stelton and Dave Grosby) there's a full write up about it somewhere buried in the forums.

Basically, the 710 radio hosts were soliciting nickname ideas from the fans through TC. They had Kam on for an interview talking about practice and he mentioned that he brings the boom. Later on they had on Brandon Browner and the radio hosts asked him if he liked temple of boom or Legion of Boom more and he liked Legion of Boom because it sounded more violent.

Bottom line is, when it hits it hits. There were hundreds if not thousands of other nick names , noone remembers any of them. Only LOB.

MOB is their team philosophy, mission over bullshit. Has nothing to do with the LoB.
