People love to judge on hindsight. I am sure not everybody loved Eskridge and where he was drafted but nobody thought he would wash out or predict injuries or off the field issues. The same people who slam picking Dee probably wanted Carter despite all his red flags. Sometimes things just don’t work out. Also not hitting on every draft pick is par for the course for EVERY team. People love to pick apart every pick every season. I am sure John picked him knowing it would not work out

Yeah, I really don’t understand why 16 people were drafted ahead of Amon-Ra. He was a beast at USC.

I didnt like the Eskridge pick...and then the Rams picked Tutu Atwell who has been on par bust wise..excluding the woman beating issues. Was it an attitude thing for St Brown?

Nelson Agholor, Breshad Perriman, Philip Dorsett, and Dorial Beckham-Green all went before Tyler Lockett in 2015. N'Keal Harry, JJ Arcega-Whiteside, and Andy Isabella all went before DK Metcalf in 2019.

As far as I’m aware, he’s squeaky clean. He’s smart, speaks three languages fluently, was a good student, and had a rep for being a hard worker and a good teammate.

The landscape is such in college football that you really have to be careful taking guys from small conferences. It's sad but true. So much of the talent is concentrated in 3 to 4 conferences and then the level of competition drops precipitously. It's different then it was 20 years ago.

Dee was from the Mid-American conference with powerhouses such as Ball St. and Toledo. I seriously can't imagine how difficult it is to scout some of these guys by trying to extrapolate what you see to weekly top tier opposition.

In the same way JS/PC seemed to evolve away from character issues after draft misfortune, I wonder if guys like Dee (and even LJ Collier out of TCU) will change the draft strategy moving forward. This year for example, we waited all the way to the 6th round before selecting a non power conference player (J. Redd II from the Mountain West).

Zero doubt Dee should not have went number 56 coming out of Western Michigan, but live and learn. That said, we found a pretty good linebacker from a small Mountain West state school a decade or so ago, so who knows.

At the time of the draft you wouldn’t have known who Amon Ra St Brown was if he took a crap on your lawn. Now go watch the Brady six and complain about the other 31 teams the passed on him for five rounds.

I’m still stewing over this trade, and pick. The Seahawks traded the second pick in the NFL Draft to the Cowboys, who select running back Tony Dorsett. In exchange, the Seahawks get the Cowboys' first-round pick, which they used to select offensive lineman Steve August.

That being said, I will never stop believing that the concussion was severe and screwed up his life for a while let alone his ability to play football. I think Pete's big hearted nature kept him from giving Dee an injury settlement and allowed him the opportunity to come back. For people who have never experienced them, it is easy to discount what concussions can do to a person.

As far as I am concerned, Eskridge's "career" is in the rearview mirror. He was a "miss". I can accept that.

The OP is obviously just responding to last night's Lions-Chiefs game. During that game, they showed a notebook that St. Brown carries that has the names of all the WRs drafted before him, which he uses as motivation. I'm surprised Eskridge's name didn't have several exclamation points after it.
