I've been over this Smith experiment. I never wanted to resign him to begin with but here we are. I'll be absolutely shocked if this dudes extended. If we have to trade some good players to get a QB, then too be it. I don't want Smith on this team anymore.

I also want to move on from Geno but who do you think we could trade for?
Baker
Stafford
Levis
Richardson
Browning
I’m just guessing names off the top of my head. I just don’t see a trade that’s gonna be a lot better than geno without still needing to draft a QBOTF, so I think keeping Geno and drafting a QBOTF is a better move and then let him learn like Love unless the rookie can take Geno’s spot

I wanted them to grab Baker when he was available.
but I’m starting to find space to appreciate geno. He’s kept us a float and like toffee says he brings hope, maybe one in a million but that’s something, I am just starting to feel sorry for him, bless his heart, cause our line is very sporadic so he doesn’t know if he needs to be ready to run or if he can cook a steak, it’s not his fault he’s the most qualified person currently available for the job

Browning is interesting. It'd be a gamble, but I can see some parallels with the Hasselbeck trade. He led the league in completion percentage last year, but also averaged 8.0 yards per attempt, so he wasn't just dinking and dunking. For reference, that 8.0 number ranked fourth in the league last year and is the exact number Josh Allen is averaging this year. He looks like a fighter out there.

I think Levis could be a worthy reclamation project, but as an affordable backup, not a starter. Granted, I thought the same about Sam Howell, so what do I know.

It doesn't really make any sense for the Bucs to trade Baker or the Rams to trade Stafford. Richardson has some talent, but he's too injury prone for me. I can't really think of anyone else; definitely not anyone who is an obvious upgrade over Geno.

I did as well. Baker always had talent. He was just on a shitty team. Baker would have been amazing if he was our QB right now. I'm not hating on Smith, I just wanna move on.
You could be right, but, and this is just my opinion, I think he would look as bad as he did in Cleveland behind our O line.
Maybe not as many brain cramps as Geno, but that's about it.

Geno has been playing behind a dog crap Oline his entire time in Seattle and has made the most of it. Thinking a new QB is going to make a difference is like thinking a new RB will solve the run game. If there's any QB that is available that's better and will play better throwing the ball 75% in shotgun behind this Oline I'm all ears.

This team needs to prioritize Oline before anything else on offense. Get a young QB and let him sit a couple years.

Time to mortgage the future. Trade up, grab a couple top tier OL in the first. Find a developmental QB in the 2nd or 3rd that you're in love with and let him sit a year. The defense is good enough to compete. Walker and Charbs are under contract still for next year.

Genuinely reconsider Grubb. Geno has a few weeks to get a contract extension or he's going to have to deal with the final year of a deal.

They might not even have to trade up. Get a couple more players in the early rounds, sign a vet or two, then get an NFL experienced Oline coach. Maybe Huff isn't the problem and it's Grubb's play calling setting them up for failure, maybe it's both and a couple new coaches make them look serviceable.

a poster who hasn’t posted in a couple of weeks thought I was insane for saying Baker over Geno. I’m not sure it’s even close anymore, Baker looks like a top 10 guy right now.

He and Darnold make just as many bad decisions, maybe more. The difference is these people don't watch every snap from other QBs. They see highlights and box scores. Highlights are mirror td/int ratio. Highlights will show every TD pass from a QB and only show picks if they're significant to the storyline. They never show bad passes or passes that should've been int's. Sometimes the score bug on the highlight shows only show completions, attempts, yards, and TDs. Fans get this extremely sanitized view of other teams and players and treat it as the gospel.

If we got Baker next season people in here would be pitching about getting bad Baker. You'd hear things like, " why was he so good in Tampa and shit for us"? The reality of course is that he would be the hot or ice cold QB he's always been
