I just heard on “The Herd”, Eric Mangini as the guest. Mangini said that all the Patriots have to do is double JSN, stuff the run, and it will cause Darnold to struggle.

Cowherd agreed 100%, said that Darnold will struggle and the Patriots will win 27-26, he said that too many people are overlooking the Patriots.

Both of them also said that our defense isn’t as good as advertised, especially in the secondary, and the Patriots receivers will have success, Maye will have a great game and win.

Thoughts? Does this mean we lose now?

This game will be closer than a lot of people think. Patriots have some x-factors on both sides of the ball. That said, I don't put too much stock into any Cowherd says. These guys have two weeks to fill and will say anything to get views/clicks etc.

Did they even consider that Maye might be the one who struggles? He has not played well in the playoffs, completing only 55.8% of his passes, throwing two INT's, fumbling six times, getting sacked fifteen times, and having the lowest QBR rating for a QB that reached the SB since 2006. Do they think he's going to have an easier time against the Hawks defense?

But no, let's focus on Sam who's coming off his best performance in a big game in his entire career.

The NFL has put out the script. The major talking heads will all have this as a really close game. If they actually believe that or not is up for debate.

A realistic look at the game has the Seahawks winning by a decent margin. Look at how many sacks NE has given up - that stat alone should scare the hell out of anyone.

Sam has really progressed this season. The way he took those hits, putting a completion ahead of everything, his ability to make it to his 3rd and 4th receiver, AND, he's working behind one of the best offensive lines we've had in decades!

I saw a video describing how Darnold has advanced, I'll find it and post it.

Cowherd has picked us the entire season and waits until NOW to stop?

He can be articulate at times, but he will never, ever pass up an opportunity to be a contrarian. I guarantee if the Pats were the ones heavily favored by the media, he'd be saying something different now. He's so predictable.

I do think he is being contrarian but I also think people are vastly underestimating the Patriots around here.
Their D line is legitimately very good. Their secondary is as well. Linebackers are just ok.
Our D is better I think, and our O line might be marginally better too possibly.
Darnold has more experience and is playing far better than Maye and hopefully that continues.

I get annoyed by people who are always needless contrarians just for the sake of bringing attention to themselves and making themselves look like they know something that most others don't. Cam Newton falls into that category for me as well. It's one thing to weigh different sides to an argument, it's another when it's done just to preen your own feathers in an effort to make yourself look smarter than everyone else.

I believe he's just doubling down because pre-season he predicted the Patriots would have the biggest turnaround this year in the NFL. I generally respect his opinion, but I think he's way wrong this time.

I expect Maye to turn the ball over, but we win even if he doesn't. We're just better in all aspects of the game.

Speaking of their Secondary, I think Christian Gonzalez is a bit overrated, imo.

I have Pats fans claiming he will lock down JSN when BETTER Corners like Stingley Jr. couldn't do it.

Also if they actually double JSN, they will give plenty of opportunity for Rashid Shaheed to do some damage.

And if not him, then Kupp can still go.

And if not him, then AJ Barner can get it done.

And if not him, then a nice quick screen pass to K9 will do.

Perfect assessment. We're the complete package.

Cowherd also said defensive minded head coaches can't win a Lombardi in the modern NFL. That hot take aged like milk.
Our HC and OC have a different relationship from some of the past defense-minded failures. McDonald lets Klint cook.
