Well against the Broncos he had said Coach this is hard or something to that affect.
May be a good kid and have a great arm, but I think his head and spirit is soft, he can be messed with.

Just saying, coming from my ERA the Greenbay Cowboy game on the Frozen Tundra and guys going sleeveless to intimidate the other players, and a QB in a Snow Storm from New England says it tough.
Not a good look, also shows he is a bit of a softy.

I don't think offering pulling Maye was to save him embarrassment, if anything it's just acknowledging the game was over and giving the backups a chance to get on the field of a super bowl. Just a coach thinking about his entire team in the final game of the year, even in a bad moment. As someone who has been a bench warmer, getting on the court/field even in garbage time still meant something.
