He doesn't know the offense and we need a RB1&2 immediately.

How much does Turbin know the offense? It has been five years since he's played here, and we have a new offensive coordinator. Turbin also hasn't played ball for over a year, only appearing in 8 games over the last two years in an extremely limited amount of snaps. He was fringe NFL player in his prime, now he is on the wrong side of 30 and has been out of the game for over a year.

I see virtually no upside to him, I think the fact that Russell Wilson is buddies with him is the only reason he is here right now.

The coordinator doesn't really matter, Schotty runs Pete's offense, and the core of that hasn't really changed all that much over the years. Turbin's greatest attribute is his pass blocking. I think that's why they brought him in.

The Seahawks have 2 run plays belly left and belly right so i don't know the play book would have matter much. I think it's more about Turbin being a pass catching 3rd down back that you can trust to pick up a blitz too.

Probably told him it is because Turbin is friends with Russ, and CJ knows he is a better back.

Way better than Turbin but not RWs buddy so no influence. Guess its all about who you know to get on this squad. ..

Regardless of the behind the scenes details, not wise to take it public when you’re still looking for a job. P&J have a stellar reputation as player friendly and hell Turbin could go down in practice this week for all we know.

There's a reason he's been unsigned all season. He was with Lions and they have been going through running backs all season. They didn't want him.
Someone mentioned in the Twitter link in the OP that he was upset with the money the Seahawks offered him.

Sure he does.. you hand him the ball, he runs for the hole.

CJ Anderson isn't great, but he plays hard.

The dude has a history of allegedly mismatching his potential with the pay he's trying to get. And he gets in fights on Twitter with fans and runs his mouth a lot. If you're a top level player and running your mouth a lot, you can kind of get away with it. But if you're marginal, it's really going to hurt you.

I'm sure Schneider did tell Anderson they wanted him, but obviously they love what shape Marshawn came in for his physical, and thing's changed.

Ur CJ Anderson bro, sorry but it's not like we passed up on Walter Payton in his prime. You can be mad, but you have to understand any new RB has 5 day to come in here and learn the offense, scheme, playbook and pass pro.........so of course Pete's going to want two RB's that already know our system.

It might not be that far fetched actually. CJ is probably (most definitely) the better back. But Russ trusts and feels comfortable with Turbin and let's be honest we need Russ to go off if we have any chance in the playoffs.

-Why did we pick up Turbin instead of Anderson?
-Because Turbin knows the offense.

-Hasn't the offense changed since he's been gone?
-Maybe some, but it's a really simple offense to learn.

-Why did we pick up Turbin instead of Anderson?

I think this is exactly it. If you have played with another player, you know some of his tendencies. If you know his tendencies and they seem to be in line with what the team plays, it will be like stepping back into the old twilight zone and it will most likely work. A new guy will be out of place and not consistent with the tendencies known. Skill set is also a known.

“You don’t even know the half of It. It would be rude to all Seattle fans what they told me and my agent. Once again that’s the Game not Football there is a difference,” Anderson wrote. “Some of the people never have to experience the Game. I’m Happy for those people. Unfortunately I was the unlucky one who had to play the Game instead of football. All started back April 9 2017. The Football was no longer football for me. It became the Game after that.”

Just a niblett of what was in the article. It is 6 paragraphs.

This is all about $$$$. Turbin is much more likely to jump on for close to minimum. Lynch will likely get more although he may be even taking less than Anderson wanted since we did him a solid when he was done here. Even if not, we weren’t bringing in two guys for the higher cap hit. Lynch was that guy and Turbin is the lower paid emergency back

CJ would have been such a better option than Turbin.

Turbin is worthless. He wasn't even good in his prime, I shudder to think of what a rusty Turbin looks like.

CJ with no knowledge of the playbook > Turbin with perfect recall of every play

Sounds like something you'd order from an Asian bath house.

Anderson hasn't played in over three months, so it's not like he's fresh and in game shape either. I get what Pete's doing, he's going with who he and Russell feel comfortable with for a game that's going to have a razor thin margin for error for us.

Neither scenario is ideal.
