Everyone's talking about the Saints, and 49ers, and Panthers as threats to the Seahawks down the road,...but I disagree.

The team that (truly) scares the crap out of me (right now) is the Eagles.

Foles, McCoy, Cooper, D-Jack,.......... the ENTIRE team are on a MAJOR roll right now.

Is it just me?

No. But their defense just isn't good enough and if it goes well with Percy we will score just like them if need be (not likely given we will take away Cooper and the other guy and force them into check down mode like New Orleans.

I agree that the unpredictability factor is concerning, but can they defend? Each team in the NFC has something to be afraid of (Rogers, Brees, Carolina's front, SF's familiarity, etc.). I also pegged Philadelphia as the team to be wary of in the playoffs, but I'm comforted by the fact that Seattle hasn't really been exploited too badly by explosive offenses in the past two years, particularly at home. If Monte Kiffen could slow the Eagles down, then I'm sure Pete Carroll can, too. And Philly won't be able to stop this offense like Arizona, SF or Carolina. Seattle has blown out every below-average defense its seen this year.

Aside from the Chiefs and Cards, the Eagles have not played a good defense all year. I think our young guys on defense would be able to keep pace with them.

I would love to see Sherm body up on Jackson at the line. That would be funny to watch.

Their offense is playing well but they have the second worst overall defense in the NFL. I could see them possibly putting up some points on us at home, but no way would they keep up. I can picture us giving Marshawn 25-30 carries and chewing the hell out of the clock while getting big gains most runs. Also Nick Foles had the comfort of playing against some of the worst secondaries in the NFL 8 times this year. It would be a much different atmosphere for him up in Seattle plus a secondary that shows him open passes on purpose just to pick it off.

This is why I still think the Panthers are the biggest threat to us. Their front 7 is LEGIT and their offense is predicated on not turning the ball over. I don't think it would happen but at the same time I could see them coming to Seattle, having Cam throw it 10 total times, and winning a very close low scoring game by playing field position and great defense. It's exactly how they beat SF in SF. If they somehow get knocked out before we potentially face them, I think we have a really good shot at taking the NFC. If we do meet up with them late in the playoffs I sure hope Bevell brings his A game to beat their below average secondary cause I don't see their offense giving our defense any chances at takeaways.

The only thing that concerns me about the Eagles is that the offense Chip Kelly has doesn't rely on communication in the huddle, so it could negate some of our crowd noise.

An inexperienced QB in Seattle for the first time, in what would have to be the NFC Championship game... I would take that. Their defense is horrible. They barely beat the Cowboys with Orton. Division game or not, it was not an impressive showing. Their O is good, Shady is amazing, but their team is unbalanced and that D would get shredded up here.

Totally agree with this. No team concerns me more than the Panthers.

No way a team comes to the CLink for the first time in 3 or so years in a playoff atmosphere and beats us...no chance. Not this team. The 49ers are our biggest threat, we get past them and it's off to NY.

The Eagles at Clink in a Playoff atmosphere would be like the SF game in week 2.

I believe I heard that Philly has yet to face a Top 10 defense all year long. Heck, any decent offense that got to play six games against the NFC East this year would probably end up with pretty good numbers...

Philly has a great Oline, they have been healthy, and all 5 guys have played every game.
Their offense can get going if allowed too, but they haven't really been punched in the face by a defense like this.
Hell, Minnesota hung 48 points on them a couple of weeks ago...
I think the Hawks would spank them if they made it that far.

Only good D's they've faced are TB early in the season with Vick and Arizona

Defense doesn't get scared at away games. That is why I said Cam could throw 10 times. They have a fairly solid running game and Cam can run as well. Their front seven is better than the 49ers as a unit. 49ers have to win realistically 2 away games before getting a shot at us in Seattle.

I appreciate the supreme belief in our Hawks, I too believe we will make the Superbowl, but to just straight up doubt the Panthers is a tough pill to swallow.

Eagles barely beat the Cowboys for the division. Not scared in the least.

A little off topic, but I was talking to this guy I use to work with today.
I live in Illinois, and my buddy is a Bears fan.
He said that the Seahawks remind him of the 85' Bears.
Great defense, stud running back, etc...
Never really thought about it, but he ain't wrong!

They barely beat the Kyle Orton Cowboys and a toothless defense. Not worried.
