Pete's closeness to John is questionable on this one. Without the arm over the shoulder, it's tough to see how their excitement correlates to the draft selection.

While this isn't quite on par with their enthusiasm in the Will Levis picture, this is definitely #2.
Pete’s hand is actually up the back of John’s shirt and he’s spelling Y-E-S with his fingers.

Definitely #1.

Well you nailed the problem with Hooker, Box. He's near 45. Might as well draft the kid from UW at that point.
Or you can draft the 5ft nothing QBs from Alabama or Ohio State. (Stroud is 6'3 but plays like he is 5 9, the other kid might be shorter than Wilson)

The thing is, in pressure games and against top competition - Hooker delivered. Most of the others didn't or did but you cannot tell how much of it was their roster just overpowering the other team.

This isn't a Wentz or Allen thing where someone is incredibly raw and just carrying a team (but the team isn't very good or playing substandard comp) either. Not seeing the raw but big-upside guys who have flashed talent enough while carrying their teams consistently besides.

He gets away with a lot of sloppy plays...He's going to get absolutely smashed by NFL talent. Not all the time, but he's going to find out the hard way that there are grown men trying to take his head clean off on eeevvvveeeeery play. Interesting prospect nevertheless.

You guys realize Hendon Hooker is already 25 years old right? By the time he’s starting he would most likely be at minimum 26 and maybe 27 years old… AR is only 20 years old and has just 13 starts under the belt… in a scenario like ours we are one of only a few teams I think he truly could become a superstar with time, tutelage, and not forced into action. His entire career is ahead of him… Hooker’s could arguably already be half over in his mid to late 20s by the time he’s called upon!

I agree with the notion if you’re going to draft in the top 5 you almost have to take a QB because we won’t get this chance again to get the Adonis prospect at the position.
Exactly. If you believe in his ability in your offense and that his accuracy issues are overblown then you could have the best athlete in the entire league at the position. I tend to think all of these QB selfies are just a smokescreen but I’ll be stoked if they believe enough in one of these guys to actually pull the trigger.

Richardson needs to sit a year to develop. At least. And Drew's contract is a one-year deal. And Geno's contract has no guaranteed salary in 2024 or 2025. There will be a signing bonus pro-ration on the cap those years, but if they wanted to move on after this seaon, the deal is absolutely structured so that they can do so.

This fact and the QBs that are in this draft are not coincidental.
Thanks for the reminder tidbits, one-year deals in effect, for both Geno and Drew. Certainly increases the QB pick odds. Despite what I said in another thread, I'm feeling that with the energy the Hawks staff is putting into checking out all the QBs, I don't think they'd go all out as much as they did just to bluff other teams. But I'm sure they'll get over their disappointment quickly if Will Anderson Jr. falls to them at 5.

I honestly don't know what to think of the "Rookie QB would be too old" rationale. Has Pete (or John) ever addressed this issue that anyone knows about?

This does not feel right to me...

Right now, we have an impressive quarterback group in Geno and former first round choice Drew Lock. The Seahawks will be up for sale soon and the new owner and coaching staff will have their own ideas about who to draft as a quarterback.

It would be a better business decision for the Seahawks to draft for some of the best players available, in order to leave the team with long term starters. Last years draft was so "golden" that I don't need to mention individual players...they played above expectations!!!

Also, the teams free agent signings this year have been excellent. Bobby Wagner and Julian Love both took pay cuts to come here! That says a lot for the Seahawks organization.

In this years draft, we really need a Nose tackle and his backup, an offensive Center (Schmitz?), an EDGE pass rush specialist, Running Back, Safety or big Cornerback. a third Wide Reciever and maybe a Tight End. The Seahawks should probably draft for the best player available of these positions.

An awesome draft would bring a lot of value to the team. Now that Jalen Carter has dropped in character issues and athletic performance...who will our real choice be at #5?

I think Seattle has got to compete with SF and to do that they have to considerably beef up the D line. AZ is in the same position. We have seen what Seattle has done in FA and the truth is its not enough. The question is what round are they going to get good enough D lineman to compete?

To me, picking a QB at 5, would be a luxury they dont have when your talking about drafting a QB like AR15 with the #5 pick. Even if they do spend the first 3 picks on D lineman they are going to struggle to compete with the Niners D line IMO.

I could see drafting Hooker in the 2nd round... but i think those first 2 picks have got to go to studs on the D line.

I think all this Qb talk is the Hawks posturing...unless they think they are going to get that D line help in the later rounds which i guess could happen knowing JS talent for finding gems in the later rounds. I still think they are trying to get a team below them to trade over them so they can have their pick of D lineman. I think if they can convice AZ that they are going to take a QB then AZ is likely to trade down with someone like Vegas..

Its very interesting how the Seahawks have positioned them selves in this draft through their activity in FA. They can do what ever they want pretty much... but what i like is that they have position themselves to let the draft fall to them... if i were the Hawks i would stay put and take advatage of what falls to them barring any ridiculous trades that might fall there way.... this is going to be an epic draft.

I would absolutely love Seattle to draft Richardson. But this all feels like lying season to me.

In general, I believe February is when the most “accurate” draft buzz comes out. Everything after is just noise. Will never forget everyone feeling like Sam Darnold was a lock to go #1 because of some pic of him talking to Cleveland brass circulated in March.

Plus, it doesn’t even have to be Seattle making the smoke. It could easily be Arizona using the selfies to drive the Colts or Raiders to panic.

But this all feels too obvious at this point to be real.

Maybe the best way to compete with SF is to roll the dice on a potential generational QB talent like Richardson instead of adding another OLB like Anderson to go with Uchenna Nwosu, Taylor, Mafe.

They won't have another opportunity in the foreseeable future to pick a top QB prospect after this year.

You make a lot of good points. I would add that SF window is right now. They are about make Bosa the highest paid defensive player in the league most likely and that is going to eat up their cap space and force some tough choices.

As you mentioned, even going DL with the first 3 picks isn't likely to make the Hawks close to SF. That's why you might swing for the fences on a guy like Richardson. If he pans out, in 2 -3 years you have a stud QB right when SF is in cap purgatory.

Hooker is 25 and Richardson is 21. You could sit Richardson for 3 years and he would still be younger than what Hooker was who is also coming off an ACL tear. It's possible Seattle takes him a little later but I would be somewhat surprised. I think you pick top 5 and you think a potential elite talent is there you have to take him. If Anderson is off the board I just don't see Wilson or anyone else who fits that bill other than a QB. I could be wrong but my guess is John leans QB and Pete leans Dline for multiple reasons.
