Perhaps some may kvetch about the must win part, but the team's hold on the #2 seed which I believe to be totally essential to getting to the SB is contingent on getting a bit healthier which may happen with bye and the time off.

At present things will be easier for the team if both NYG and Atlanta both lose but there is still a threat from the Lions and Seattle needs to win this upcoming game to insure the bye. It should not be forgotten by any here the team does not hold the #2 record in the NFC, in fact it's the 3rd best and an Atlanta W or a Detroit W and a Hawks loss puts the team into the 4th seed with no bye. A loss here means the team loses control over their destiny and if the wrong teams Detroit or Atlanta win out the Hawks will be the 4th seed facing the Giants in a wildcard game.

It's a critical game and the Cardinals actually have an O that can score points.

Just take care of business, and they'll be fine.

The Giants don't really matter in the larger picture. They're almost guaranteed the #5 seed, unless they win the next two games and Dallas loses the next two, which I don't see happening. And in any case, that would simply switch them with Dallas from #5 to #1, and vice versa. Won't affect us.

Atlanta and Detroit, however, are very much in position to affect us, should we not win out. Wins by them could easily drop us into the #3 or #4 slot if we stumble.

However, as has been said, winning out against two weaker teams, in very winnable games, is all we need to do. Cardinals (and quite possibly 49ers) games, is a must-win game simply to keep controlling our own destiny.

I believe that if we win this week and Atlanta and Detroit both lose, we clinch the #2 seed and get the bye. That is a very real possibility.

I am of the opinion that if we cannot win these next 2 games then we dont deserve to be anywhere near a superbowl.

Except that AZ just put up 41 against a team we lost to.

They clinched a Playoff spot 2 weeks ago, can we stop acting like they are a 6-10 team?

That kind of comparison never works in the NFL. Teams always match up different against each other. Just because one team beats a team we lost to means NOTHING in how we will play them. IMHO for us it is which offense decides to turn up for the game.

At this point all of our games are MUST wins for the #2 seed. Although we are in playoffs regardless of win or lose.

We lost to the Saints the week following the tie game with AZ... and the principal reason that we lost was fatigue... not enough time for our players' bodies to recover from the extreme number of snaps they played. That game was brutal. I was there.

Kelcie McCray, subbing for Kam, played 108 snaps... 108!!!

KJ and Bobby... 102

Earl and Sherm.... 99

Need I go on?

Some dire predictions in this thread.

lol.............well hard to blame fans for being on edge the last couple weeks.

Here we are down the home stretch and our team has yet to show they're playoff ready, with one of the best players going off on coordinators and reporters.

Kinda makes for some frazzled nerves man!

It does feel a bit like we're in the back seat and Thelma is heading for the cliff. But we have to remember that everything is good until we're airborne. There's always a chance she turns the car around. :) :2thumbs:

True, 'teams always match up different against each other.'

But here's the thing, we did not match up well at all against Arizona, they basically kicked our *sses up and down the field. The Cards killed us in TOP (about 45 minutes to 30), 200 more yards, made more than twice the number of first downs. The Hawks were very lucky to get even a tie out of it.

I like to think the Seahawks are now playing better than the Cards, are the more motivated team, will benefit by being at home, etc. But that matchup was basically a nightmare last time.

There is a difference between a play off team and a superbowl calibre one imho.

We need a ruthlessness which has been a bit lacking this year on the whole. It's time to step up and put some teams to the sword.

Another win on Saturday, not worried at all. I fully expect a good battle, but way too much on the line. The Statue Palmer is going to have a very long day.

Well when we start doing that people say we are piling on and running up the score, I do agree with you, let those that want participation trophy's worry about stopping the scoring.

I'd say the rest of the games this season fall into the must win category now, unless the Cowboys and Panthers win too.

We are by definition as a playoff team near the Super Bowl. If we lose the next two then win three in a row we would 100% deserve to be in the super bowl.

We match up horribly against Arizona's DL. I would not be one bit surprised if we lose that game and it means nothing on our amount of "deserve" to be in the Super Bowl. You earn things in life and this team has EARNED a playoff spot and then it is a new season.
