He can definitely get over-aggressive, but his play has generally been fine. Exactly why he's getting so many snaps.

I think it happens a lot when he tried to Spin around the linemen, but the problem is when he does that, he gives up his back and loses all momentum. His best performance's Imo are when he's giong straight on, no spinning bs. Unless its like against a mobile QB like Cam Newton who kicks outside the pocket to that side and then Bruce spins right into him.

Because when Bruce drives straight and hard, he walks linemen back and that pocket disappears and he's in the QBs face constantly. At least enough to disrupt timing.

I think it's a discipline thing- more a symptom of the way the whole defense has played at times than Irvin simply not being capable. IMO he's gambling on making a big play- or at least making a play- when his position calls for situational containment to force the play back inside. Maybe he has no confidence in what will happen if he simply contains(?) The rest of the run D has not exactly inspired much confidence. Discipline and integrity seem to be lacking in general which seem like personnel and coaching issues imo.
