So Evan Mathis posted a picture on Twitter, presumably from some kind of rookie hazing. A $64k dinner bill, along with the caption

Irvin has called him out, saying that stuff doesn't fly in the Pacific Northwest, with ADB joining in later on.
Would never pay that shit! Woulda walked out

Big red them would have never made me pay 64 thousand dollars for a rookie dinner that's dumb as hell

The only thing I know that the Hawks do is make the rookies buy snacks or something, and that's from the RRR. Do they do anything else that we know of? Presumably it's not the same as 64 grand for what seems to be a lot of wine....

Pete spoke about this in length after the Jonathan Martin incident in Miami. In Pete's words, he wants his rookies to feel welcomed into the team as any other player would. Rookies are too much a part of the program to be separated from the team because of hazing.

Pete Carroll: “We don’t allow hazing here, and that’s been just the way that I’ve posted it from the start. I didn’t feel like there was any place for it, but in the past yeah I’ve seen it. It’s just an old school way of thinking and a way of operating. We know better, we know better now, and any time that we get a chance to express at it, it couldn’t be more clear and more obvious to us all now and we just need to do a really good job of sending the message properly.”

Over $38,000 on wine (or whatever) and some dude orders a $4.00 iced tea. Gee, I wonder who that was?

Gluttonous and ignorant, IMO.

Hazing use to be tying a kid to a goal post, then turning the sprinklers on him while filling his new ride to the brim with popcorn. $3000 bottles of "Screaming Eagle" champagne? What do the Eagles have to scream about anyway?

If I were the owner of the establishment, I'd ask the rooks to do some promo stuff, then throw the bill in the trash.

Baldwin tweet wasn't posted, so here it is...

Doug Baldwin Jr @DougBaldwinJr

I would have fought Sid and Mike if they tried to make us spend 64k on some drinks… Lol

Other Irvin tweets:

Bruce Irvin @BIrvin_WVU11

Never! Our vets cool as hell RT @Ken_Bellevue: @BIrvin_WVU11 Bruce, the Seahawks vets dont do this to the rookies, do they?

Bruce Irvin @BIrvin_WVU11

My rookie dinner was 6500 and big red went half with me on that!

That's either an unfunny joke tweet from Mathis or he's the biggest idiot in the world. Either way, if his GM isn't on the phone with him now, then he needs to get his stuff together.

makes you wonder about football IQ when their real life IQ is this low.

One has to wonder if the Eagles Front Office knew about this dinner? Did they approve of this sort of treatment for their Rookies?

Lane Johnson literally posted this like not that long ago and the Eagles players involved got a lot of hoopla over it....you would think they would be smarter than to post that type of stuff again.

If I was a coach/GM I'd be pretty pissed that my players ordered 23 bottles of wine, had over 60 shots of alcohol and drinks.....this is how you stay in football shape ?

It's no wonder OLmen are fatasses if they eat like this. I was a fairly high end athlete in high school, but during football season (any sports season really but I took football more seriously) I wouldn't even go out with the other guys to parties on the weekends, because that crap affected you during the week. And that's just competing against other high school athletes. I can't imagine trying that crap in the NFL.

These guys don't know how blessed they really are to be able to abuse themselves and still be elite.
