Broncos chasing the 2007 Patriots.

So I read on NFL.com that many "experts" say this year that the Bronco's are gonna be chasing the 2007 Patriots for the dream team/perfect team. Those who don't remember they went 16-0 in the regular season that year. Seeing the game last night (Broncos v. Ravens) it seems like they could do that, however one thing people are forgetting that the Patriots finished 18-1, that one loss was in the Superbowl against the Giants. So does that mean the the Bronco's will do the same? If we continue to listen to the "experts" it will be the Seahawks and Broncos in the big game, so that would be by default that they would lose to the Seahawks. Shoot I'm fine with that.

1 game does not define a season. Especially the first game. Manning is unlikely to throw 60 TD passes (though I guess it's possible), and the lack of a run game/pass rush is going to hurt them at some point.

I should have defined something in my post, and it's that the way they play (the Broncos) it just adds more fuel to the hype that the Broncos would become the 2007 Patriots regular seasons wise. I know it's one game and there's still -a lot- of football left and anything can happen. I have nothing against the Broncos, in fact I like Peyton Manning, but if they were to lose to say the Raiders I'd get a chuckle out of it.

And I noticed that too. Manning threw all over the place and it was impressive but the fact that there run game was a zero factor is worrisome.

Quite a few of Peyton's passes had some wobble to them. I'm predicting his passing will get weaker as the season goes on. He's getting up there in age and that neck injury takes it's toll at that age. Remember Matt Hasselbeck getting injured running down the field with no contact? Manning is subject to age related deterioration.

The Broncos have the benefit of a garbage division to slice through. They basically start the season at 6-0.

Other than the division games, the only good teams on their schedule are the Giants, Colts, Redskins, Patriots and Texans.

They should finish at least 14-2.

Don't like them a bit, (old AFC days) but they have a ridiculously easy schedule. If any team out there can do it, it could be them. I sure wish we had their easy road to the playoffs.

I'm not so sure about a perfect season. Their running game looked terrible and against a good secondary, he'll have a harder time and against man coverage specifically. It seems Peyton thrives against zone looks most of all and also with deception because of his intelligence. Line up man to man with a decent secondary and it negates a lot of his advantages.

Still, they'll probably go 14-2 or something crazy like that. Strangely I like our matchup against them though if it were to come to that.

Peyton took some pretty good shots throughout that game as well. If he keeps that up, it is pretty sure to put a little hitch in his giddyup.

Unless I read that wrong, the Patriots comparison was in regard to how many points they might score this season and not their W/L record.

I hope if we get to the Super Bowl, we get the Broncos. That is going to be a very frigid-weather game, and outdoors no less. Manning will have a hard time against our secondary in that condition, even with his timing-based, no-huddle offense.

They have a cupcake schedule, so its not out of the question. Pats and Texans are about the only good teams on their schedule

I will say this, Seattle might be the only team with secondary deep enough to slow that passing offense. Thomas, Welker, Decker, and now Julius Thomas. That's a lot of weapons to cover.

Baltimore probably isn't a playoff team this year, but people should still take note of Denver's offense. It could be historically good. IIRC, New England didn't have much of a running game in 2007 either.

Denver will be a media favorite all year. As pointed out...look at their division. Better than 6-0, that's six more games Peyton can shine w his TDs and his WR core can look like Gods.

As to the others, on defense they are all weaker than most. Will be Offenses against each other.

Any team in the NFC W could rock an AFC W schedule.
