Any time it's a bidding war, it's hard to get too excited about the M's actually beating out the Yanks or any other of the teams that do what it takes to get deals done. Teams that make winning their top priority. IF they somehow were able to get Suarez here, sign him to a 2 or 3 year extension right away. I highly doubt they would, but they should, imo. He was a damn good fit here.

Totally unrelated, but I just heard the Red Sox lost on a walk-off catcher's interference. Only the 2nd time since the late 60's it has happened. 710 ESPN played the audio and the announcers both said immediately it was legit. Philly challenged and it was quickly overturned, and they got the win.

I’m probably being too hard on Julio, but he rarely makes those amazing catches we were used to Griffey and Ichiro making. Maybe this is a wrong take, but seems like he can cover a lot of ground but rarely slides or lays out to make the amazing grab.

He was making grabs the first couple years; He also got hurt
doing them so my guess is they told him to back off on trying
so hard.
JR would never listen to anyone on that and it cost him a lot of
games in his prime.

Geno struck so much while here and it seemed to filter down the
lineup, maybe he's better now.
I wasn't sad to see him go because of all those 10-15 so's per by
the offense when he was here.
If they get him, I don't want to see the bitching if it happens like
last time.

I thought he cut down on his strikeouts towards the end of his time here and at the very end I remember feeling the most confident in success when he came up to bat

That’s a nice play but who is that, #20 for the rays? Julio doesn’t usually make that play. He’s probably 50/50 on spectacular catches and his route to the ball is sometimes a little crooked. We made him a center fielder, he’s not a natural

Yeah I didn't notice until after I posted that the OF is RH
I put in for Griffey catches and now they don't exist I guess.

As has already been discussed recently in other threads here, K's are only an issue if you're striking out a lot and also not producing. Judge, Ohtani, and Schwarber are all top 10 in K's, but no one complains about it because they're extremely productive hitters despite all those K's. Geno is 24th in K's this season, so if you're one of those people that's obsessed with K's and disregards everything else, you probably won't be happy with him. But I mean, that would be incredibly short sighted. Geno has been one of the most productive hitters in baseball this season period. We'd be lucky as hell to have him.

The Mariners could easily out bid the Yanks in terms of prospects if they really wanted to. The problem is, imo, that they'd rather sit back and pat themselves on the back over supposedly having a top rated farm system than use those resources to go get a player that could make a huge difference right now.

That whole top rated farm system thing (that may or may not ever work out) is an awfully convenient excuse to continue to string fans along while never actually doing what it takes to win anything meaningful in the present or near future.

They have the prospects to do some serious damage at the deadline. They just won't. Harry Ford had NO place on this team, he has damn good numbers. Trade him along with some top prospects and go for it, NOW.
