He was just hired this year . That's news to me...so the Hawks have 3 Carrolls coaching the Hawks now . Any thoughts ?

Is hiring your family for important functions for which they have no apparent expertise a problem?

Great thread if this was 2015 the year he was actually hired as an assistant offensive line coach, during this time the Hawks went 40-24-1 those are my "thoughts".

My mistake I misread . thanks for the correction... so Brennan Carroll as a rookie coach was mentored by Tom Cable for a few years . Why is Cable trashed in here so much ?

Is this for real?
yep...I honestly did not know that that Pete Carroll had 2 sons on the payroll...I knew about the asst. receivers coach .. but not about Brennan Carroll. When it was pointed out to me that I had made the mistake about when he was hired ; and the win loss record it turns out that the much maligned Tom Cable was his boss for 3 years . I've only been a member for a year and have never heard anything good in this forum about Cable .

Is this rare or is this common in the NFL that family members are on staff?
I'm tempted to say that those who don't do it are actually the "stupid" ones.
Ryans (Rex Ryan daddy), Schotteheimers, Shanahans, Grudens, ... etc. Norv Turner's son is Cam Newton's QB coach. These are the family members we actually see, because of their positions/roles. How about those we don't even see because their jobs might be to reserve hotel rooms or provide food, take pictures, do marketing, ... etc.
In the meantime, those that have played the game and given sweat and blood to enrich the NFL ... can't even get a job with the NFL after they retire ...
