Marshall, likely C. Patterson, and a 3rd next year vs Rice, Tate, Harvin, and Carpenter. I'm still not sure we come out better by making that move. Sure, we'll never know if a player like Patterson would pan out here but we also don't yet know what Harvin can do for us. Besides, it's hard not to favor having a variety of good WRs over one great one when teams like GB, NY, and NE were going to Super Bowls and HOU, DET, and CHI weren't and still aren't likely to.

Rice was a free agent acquisition so thats not part of this.
Its more like Marshall vs. Tate and Carpenter. And keeping our 1st this year and 3rd next year. We don't sign Rice or Harvin if we have Marshall, thats redundant and too much money.
Just to give everyone a better understanding of the timeline/story....We trade a 1st and 2nd for Marshall and we never get Tate or Carpenter. We never over pay for Rice and we probably never sign Harvin. We have a Pro Bowl/All NFL 1st Team WR in Marshall instead of a 2nd in 2010 (Tate) and 1st in 2011 (Carpenter). We also keep our 1st round pick this season, and keep our 3rd rounder next year unless we trade for Harvin. Even if we trade for Harvin the only change is we get Marshall instead of Tate and Carpenter.
Anyway, I'm walking away from this topic because its all just fantasy and hindsight.
