People want to complain about the QB sneak.A center thats supposed to be an All Pro.A LG that people here like to describe as a roadgrader a Rg that people here like to call great run blocker and even have used the term elite to describe and they cant get 6 inches? Why would people want our Oline coach to be OC?
If you can't get that first down on a sneak your Oline failed miserably and that comes down to heart and desire. That wasnt an Xs and Os thing it was about who is more physical and wants it more and the cards won that one down.

Actually, I thought both Unger and Carp were fine on that play. It was McQuistan who failed to keep the end from crashing down on the play.

It was Willson

If he goes, just bring in someone who is more creative. I personally would try to get Sark from UW for the job.

Wow, I don't think Sark is taking an OC job. If anything he'd be running the show somewhere.

For those bashing the sneak play call, the reason it failed was because Luke Willson blew his assignment. If the TE on that side gives a quality down block, Wilson gets the first easily, IMO. I don't think the empty backfield telegraphed a thing, either. If the AZ defense had sold out to stop the sneak, then they aren't getting much pass rush, and Wilson had 3 WRs lined up in single coverage with only a yard needed.

Pete will probably lament the call, but only because it didn't work. Switching a RB for a WR also took a defender out of the box. I thought it was smart, but daring plays that fail look dumb even when they are well conceived.

As far as Bevell being promoted to HC, I don't see it, but I didn't see it for Bradley either. Sometimes bland, coat-tail riding assistants can still make for successful head coaches though (Joe Philbin in Miami). If we lose Bevell, I will welcome the opportunity for an upgrade and wish him well.

I agree that Willson got beat on his assignment (he didn't "blow" it, he had the right guy, just got beat and pushed back), but it was poor execution on Wilson's part. When is the last time you saw a QB sneak go Off Tackle, Kearly ? Maybe with Cam Newton, but not WIlson. If you watch the replay, Wilson could've gotten 2 yards up the right A Gap.

I bitch about Bevell as much as the next guy, but watch what you wish for. There are a ton of OC's out there that are a lot worse than Bevell, and we've had our fair share of them.
