I'd take Jenkins in a minute on a reasonable contract despite his inability to stay on the field. This team needs all the help it can get on the interior line. The dude's an all pro compared to what we've been throwing out there. I doubt a reasonable contract is in the cards though, still teams needing IOL. They'll bid him up.

I've seen a few reports that he's drawing interest from Seattle, Cincy and the NYG. But that could just be mediots putting teams with obvious guard needs to him without any inside info.

I'm not in the panic camp. Panic is something I don't equate with following NFL football. I'm just of the opinion that when you've got a problem, you address it. When you've got a big problem, you address it with haste. The Bears, for instance, had a weak Oline. They addressed it. When KC lost the SB to TB largely because of their Oline, they addressed it. We've had a horrible Oline for years now, near dead last in the league last year. You have to address that. I'm not even sure Lucas will remain healthy, or that Cross is all that much of a LT yet. JS has proven to be bad at putting an Oline together. Duane Brown is the best move they've made in the open market for an Oline that I can remember.

I do not trust JS about putting an OLine together until I see it on the field. I have no reason to.

Not free agency, but whoever gets Wyatt Milum in the draft is getting a huge steal. I hope it's us. Crazy to me that he's considered a day 2 pick now.
Isn't he listed as a zone gap OL. Good for for what we want to do. Hopefully he is there at 50.

Bingo. I keep hearing, "Don't worry, this draft is deep along the IOL." But I still don't trust John to pick the right guys. And these guys rarely come in NFL ready anyway. We need dudes who can come in and have an impact NOW while we develop these young guys. It's just gonna be the same old nightmare scenario we went through last year with Haynes.

Not to argue, but you don't always have to make the huge splash on day 1. There are a lot of really good O Lineman out there.
At least we know they made an effort on Dahlman. But it feels like red flags on that guy.

Yeah, I feel the exact same way.

Schneider cannot be trusted to draft the right lineman. His scouting process has major flaws in the evaluation. I can see that not all lineman will be great but the man has been GM for the longest time and we have only a small handful of decent offensive lineman. At the end of the day, you’re only as good as your scouting and evaluation is.

Patriots had a ton of cap room. They chose to sign Green Bays cast off at center and release their center. I'm betting its because of injuries or drop off in play.
I read there's a good chance he might retire.

So far none of the FA Olineman passed the Willi Schneider evaluation, therefore John Schneider didn't waste time on them.

Besides, just give the Schneider line a couple more years, everyone one of the players were hand drafted by John Schneider. They just need more touches.

Patience, my friends.

I’m really expecting a big improvement from the guys we already have. We have a room full of great coaches that we didn’t have last year that will bring out the best in them. Sundell, Haynes, Lumea, Bradford, Olu, Jerrell, the guy we picked up from the Ravens…all should take big steps this season and fit better in a ZBS. Draft 2 this year and we will be set imo. Maybe sign one of Jenkins or Becton. Dalman would have been the quickest upgrade we could have made but I’m holding out hope for Olu or Sundell to hold it down.

I do think the off season programs for these young kids will help them a lot more this year, last year they didn't even know who was going to be coaching them yet, once the coaches were brought in evaluation and the draft hit everyone in the face, then it was evaluate the team set a culture etc.

Did we have ZBS last season?
