Umm, the Packers would have paid, BIG time for sitting in that zone. The "regular" season blitzes GB threw out there would've been SLAUGHTERED by a bubble screen, zone read, or even a draw

It meant nothing. Literally nothing. Seattle wasn't going to react to what GB was doing defensively. They came out with agenda.

Oh, and they GAUGED them on the ground.

You mean gouged ? lol just messin with ya.

Yea, I agree that this was some vanilla pay calls. Seemed like Bevell didn't want to call screens, and that would've murdered the Pack tonight. We did run right into the blitz once with Michael, and they paid for it dearly.

Agreed. Green Bay played this like a regular season or playoff game (with the exception of Rogers getting only one drive). Their defense had a game plan. I think it's funny that all of McCarthy's scheming for this particular game got them a 3-3 tie at the half. Way to reward your fans with a boring game. Nozzle.

I hope they keep Graham Harrell as their backup. If Rodgers gets hurt then they won't win a game. That guy sucks.

Yes, I mean gouged. Best switch to an actual laptop if I'm posting a lot...

Also, I'm really not worried about the OL penalties either, really. I think that's okay right now. Sweezy needs to find the balance Breno did last year, and he will. It would've lead to huge runs later on, in a real game.

Bluetooth keyboards work wonders for typing on mobile devices, I highly recommend getting one if you're going to be typing more than a little on any sort of semi-regular basis on a phone or tablet.

Back to the topic, I think it's kind of funny that this seems like the game we planned LEAST for thus far this preseason, while the Packers tried it all; yet pulled Rodgers early. Odd.

The interesting thing was that Sweezy did the same thing that happened on multiple plays. Apparently the refs felt it was egregious (which it was). But the way they determine that is interesting. Do they count 1 mississippi first? I saw it happening back and forth, and then Sweezy got nailed. There were a lot of chippy hits by the Packers early. Then the Seahawks seemed to respond in kind (well...if it's gonna be that way).

Well, I cant really blame the Packers. They're still pouty, oh well? Are ya done now, Green Bay?

I'll check out the keyboard thanks for the tip, hermano.

I agree in theory but to be fair, you can use the same arguments that the Packers didn't game plan and were playing vanilla schemes as well. Neither team's coaches want to show their cards yet.

Green Bay's defensive scheme was anything but vanilla. They were stunting and blitzing like crazy on defense from the first drive.

Good point. There was aggressiveness there that we were not reciprocating.

Not really, Todd. GB was running exotic shit defensively. Especially along their front 7. In a real game the Hawks wouldve countered that with screens, or a risky draw.

I don't know if is low on GB's part, honestly. I mean if it was that bad Bevell couldve countered it, so, yeah.

I think they just wanted to get the game over and leave. Green Bay wanted to "send a message". Whatever that means. They sure did. They are toolbags.

GB was indeed using some exotic Ds , I suspect to see how RW and the Seahawks would respond. I think the fact they play SF and Washington has something to do with it. Perhaps that is why Pearson was put in , they needed someone to help with Zack and MRob out to help with blocking and prevent RW from getting banged up

Good call, puppy. I was wondering why Person was in there. And, yeah, he was in there as TE/HB IIRC.

We eventually went with a six man line as well, and that was not in a goal line situation. I think we were on the wrong side of the 50 when it was instituted. The Hawks were just throwing crap at the wall. It was obvious. I think Russell looked up to speed, which was good. In a 4 quarter game like that, I know he would have lit it up in the second half. Let's not forget that. He's a genius in the 4th quarter, and obviously hasn't played in one yet in the preseason. He warms up and then just ignites.

It was also the first game they faced a QB that could run, since Kap made them look silly in the playoffs. Wouldn't be surprised if they weren't emphasizing containing and getting to Russell. More than usual.

This is exactly what I was thinking lobohawk. Its preseason your putting out a offense they have a problem with. There going to face said offense twice to start there season. Why wouldn't they use the chance to scheme and practice against it? Bevel noticed this probably and went vanilla as possible, considering there a rival.

Matthews basically said that in his post-game interview.

I would be willing to bet that if Green Bay was "game planning" against you it wasn't for revenge. It was because they face a very similar team in week 1 (power running team with mobile QB), and then RGIII in week 2. You were a dress rehearsal, I'd bet.
