It's exactly what I've been saying. Our line is bad but it has alot to do with the play calling and scheme. Our OC is leaving them out to dry.

Not sure I agree that the OC is hanging the OLine out to dry when run blocking and that’s on the players and not the coaches. I say this b/c the run blocking sucks and that is man on man and our men are getting shoved and are unable to move the pile except rarely.

The OC does have success with a longer pass, no doubt that exposes the OL as you say but when the run isn’t happening you do what the team can get done. Why I disagree with your premise that it’s on the OC rather than the players is the reality that Geno is near to the fastest in the league getting rid of the ball.To me it’s on the players and not the coaches or possibly their poor personnel decisions by the OLine coaching staff. If the ‘backup level’ interior OLine starters can’t get it done, bring in the depth guys who are hungry for their shot. At least try some personnel changes.

I have to say I’m confused by the Bradford over Haynes deal and the problems at RT are buzzard’s luck and nothing less. Doing nothing and continuing with a failed blocking scheme where the run blocking isn’t working is like Ground Hog Day over and over and over.

Perhaps we may see personnel changes when the bye is over or it will be a long end to the season. I am regrettably being turned towards pessimism with the lack of OLine improvement this season. This is what is wrong with the O and despite Geno’s recent flake outs them not being able control TOP puts unnecessary pressure on an inconsistent and emerging D.

If you count the guards who aren't starters, there are 91 players who grade higher than Bradford. That means that basically Bradford is not only worse than all the starters in the NFL, he is worse than a lot of backups. Tomlinson is at least average among the starting guards, ranking at 31 out of 64 starting guards.

But I would also point out that the O-line has to function as a unit, and more cohesiveness and a more effective plan could help to improve Bradford's effectiveness on the line. It doesn't help that he's been playing next to 3rd and 4th string tackles most of the season.

These are the guys you have in case things go wrong, not the guys you are going to be counting on all year, not the MAIN PLAN!?!?!

It's very difficult to find quality offensive linemen in the draft, regardless of when you pick them. It almost seems like it's sheer chance.

Just look at this year--the 49ers struck gold with Dominick Puni, their 3rd round draft pick. He was not rated as highly as Christian Haynes, but he has turned out to be a really good player. Currently ranked 11th among all guards, with a PFF grade of 76.1.

Puni was taken 86th after Haynes (81st) and Zach Zinter (Browns, 85th). Zinter is doing worse than Haynes (and Bradford), with a PFF grade of 40.5.

We took the first guard in the draft this year, and it may still pay off, but it hasn't yet. (The Cowboys did take Cooper Beebe earlier, but they did it knowing they were going to convert him to center.) In 2020, we took Damien Lewis at #69, the second guard in the draft. So it's not like we haven't invested resources into the position.

I don't see how lack of effective execution by an offensive line could NOT CAUSE poor results with plays called in any offensive scheme. Maybe they aren't taking to the coaching received, or maybe that coaching is lacking in technical merit, but the problem is obviously one of player's lack of execution.

Beebe was high on my draft list. IIRC I even posted that preference. I still have hope for Haynes but he has work to do to impress the coaches. He and Murphy could become best weight room bros.
