ESPN has us ranked 13th, which is dead last among the 8-5 teams.

Among those other 8-5 teams is the Texans, who they have 11th. In our last five games, we're 4-1 with an OT loss to a Rams team that just beat the Bills followed by four consecutive victories. In the Texans' last five games, they have losses to the Jets and Titans, blew a 23-7 halftime lead to the Lions, and most recently, barely beat the reeling Jaguars by a score of 23-20, in a game where they cheap-shotted Trevor Lawrence onto IR early, and then gave up 235 yards and 2 TDs to no picks and a QB rating of 105 to Mac Jones. For context, in the four games he has played at least most of (three starts and this game), he has two TDs - those two TDs - and his second-best QB rating is a 66.

I think W/L record is primary source of most power rankings. But HOW teams got their wins can make a big difference in how you view actual team strength. I know my ranking of actual team strength differs significantly from what most of the published rankings show, and that is because I use the how factor as a priority over the W/L record.

They def. have their favorites when it comes to their rankings. Often, they are just plain laughable. I suspect the Texans thing is because of C.J. Stroud

2 weeks ago NFL.com had us in 2nd place behind the Cards... after we beat them and the Jets to assume 1st place.

With power rankings with this team and at this point in the season, i'd prefer they keep us disrespectfuly low. I think the biggest challenge this team is going to face coming down the stretch is believing too much in their own hype. If i were Mac, id be calling into the big three rankings sites and begging them to keep the Hawks low. Let them feel forgotten and disrespected. Better to keep their edge.

All the power rankings are is a tool to invoke discussion and the ire of teams fans. I never give two sh$ts about the power rankings. Just win games.

It's weird how so many people use not caring about these things as some kind of odd flex.

Every thread about power rankings has about 50 of these comments. No crap they don't matter more than winning. Nobody thinks they do.

Because some of us enjoy the discussion and analysis even if it doesn't actually "mean" anything. Nothing we do here means anything, but here we are. I don't get the point in interjecting yourself in discussions you don't want to have just to tell everyone that you don't care. It's unproductive and belittling.

I even used the phrase "power rankings" in the title. It would be an easy thread to ignore for those who think power rankings are below them.

I don't worry about it anymore, it's biased, they always begrudgingly rank us lower then the media darlings till we bitch slap those teams and they jump on for the ride. Remember how long it took for them to recognise the LOB and our receivers and yes Wilson as legitimate also.

I gave my thoughts on the question you asked. I did not see where you had power rankings in quotes. I just gave my two cents worth and my comments can be taken with a grain of salt, just like the power rankings. Thank you for your comments though.
