At least we aren't the Texans at the moment. They had a bad IOL then they trade their good LT, and now they've signed Laken Tomlinson. I don't know, maybe he's an upgrade - they did trade their LG to the Eagles. I don't know what they are doing.
Texans are confounding me as well. Have no idea what they are doing.

Quit hating, guys. Please trust John Schneider. He has a plan! Seahawks' OL is his baby, affectionately known as the "Schneider Line." He knows what he's doing.

Ask not what he hasn't done; ask what do you know that he doesn't

Have faith!!!

Every offseason:

1) we need to invest in the line.
2) Sources link us to big names guys.
3) Linemen sign with other teams.
4) “Wow such an overpay” -This forum.
5) Draft/sign bargain linemen.
6) O-line sucks.
7) Repeat

Better beef up that line or we gonna have a repeat of this bullshit.....

OL draft is pretty average. I wouldn't say it's anything special.

This situation has Grey Zabel written all over it. I hope he's good.

Of the teams reported to be vying for Fries:
Minnesota 14-2
Seattle 10-7
Indianapolis 8-9
NYG 3-14
Arizona 8-9
Patriots 4-13

Which one would you pick?

The good news is that we're the best team that's still looking for a FA IOL.

If it were just Fries I’d just shrug and see what else is there but so many top tier IOL have been signed that it’s becoming a real concern. If we aren’t going to go the FA route then we have to go the draft route. I just don’t think JS will draft that heavy for the line. Doesn’t matter who the playmakers are if your line sucks.

Early free agency is like Christmas for those who enjoy complaining about the "whiners" while offering no solutions of their own other than "trust the team". I think some people prefer to miss out on good players for just that reason.

Well, people freaking out on day 1 do seem like whiners. Just like people who don't freak out probably sound like rose colored glasses etc.

Absolutely. My preference would be Jenkins. Plug and play at LG where he was already playing. Then add from the draft.
I like Jenkins more as well. An even better short term option might be Zeitler.

I think fans have every right to be pissy about not signing or failing to sign at least an average guard or linemen during the offseason. If the last 10 years Seattle's Oline has always been okay, like between 12-18 then you know they've been coached right, made solid signings, or drafted well to stay consistent. However, Seattle's Oline has ranked more in the 24-30 range consistently. Why? Poor drafting, lack of investment, and jumping into the dumpster to sign players on their way out in hopes to finding a "gem". It also doesn't help that all to the world JS said that interior linemen or overpaid and over drafted. You are NOT living that down especially after 2024 where the line ranked as one of the worst (especially at G/C) in the league. To unf#ck that kind of situation you either needed to grab a good FA linemen or trade for one Thuney was a 4th Round pick, and yeah he's 32 but he would've been an instant upgrade.

So, unless JS drops the mic during the draft and takes the position seriously, fans have no reason to "trust" him not to do what he's always done.

Sounds like they tried to get in on both of those guys. Free agents are still free to choose where they go.
They are indeed.

And 99.5% of the time they choose the team that offers them the most favorable financial terms. In spite of any rhetoric that they or their camp spews.

Here is the bottom line IMO….

The Hawks are going to spend their money regardless. They could have spent on a slight overpay for a position they have a pattern of getting wrong through the draft and budget attempts.

Now they will have to use substantial draft capital in an area where they struggle instead of using it on positions where we have shown a propensity to draft well.

I just hope we don’t spend that money on someone like Diggs.

I wanted Fries…. I would not have cared if it was an overpay because it would have shown a fundamental shift in JS’s OL philosophy.

If we had any recent history of building our OL into an above average squad then it wouldn’t be a big deal, but we really don’t so as you watch other teams taking players that fill that need it becomes harder and harder to see JS actually doing the job to bring meaningful improvement to the line.

We have had talent at the skill positions for years but have floundered offensively. That lies squarely on the line. If we don’t improve the line we are destined to be no better than mediocre offensively.

Also remember this my fellow .net warrior kings.

Protection is more important than it was last year. Why? Geno is better under duress than Darnold.

If you look at the Darnold’s pressure stats in Minny, he was elite with regard to completion % and accuracy but he totally shit the bed (like went from 5 to 25 or something like that) when pressured. Watch the Lions finale for how Darnold performs when running for his life. (From Mina Kines pod, I’m not going to quote specifics becasue I’m lazy).

Oh well, maybe Robert Gallery is available.

Better at what? Passing up on easy runs? Picks in the red zone? Not seeing wide open receivers? Losing to teams over .500?

Darnold had a better year than Geno. Denial doesn't change that.
