Good for Bates. Hope he is able to stick and get some play time with the Browns. Maybe he shows something to the Browns, though he probably will be on the inactive squad. Still that is at least 3 weeks of NFL minimum pay for him.

They can cut Bates today a not pay him anything. He wasn't signed off a practice squad. Not that I care if we get him back but he could be available again soon.

Phil was signed to the Browns practice squad .... not the regular roster. He has returned to Ohio where he played his college ball.
