LOL, because hasn't been OFFICIALLY suspended yet? Or is it cause he was already injured? Or is it cause most of you have some sort of inferiority thin skin complex that causes you to get all worked up and band together like some crazed dysfunctional spite zombies raging against the biased media?

I think it's C.

If you were talking about the OP, then C would probably be an accurate description. But it's not an accurate description of the post you quoted. That would be B.

I hope their punter gets a lot of snaps Monday, so he can make such a huge "difference."

It's also ridiculous that he gives them the pass rush edge, since we have the most productive unit in the league in that regard.

And we have the 12s. Kind of a dumb thing to say, really.

The weird thing is he was on the NFL Network today and said on a Neutral field if he could pick any team in the entire NFL to win a game it would be the Seahawks.

This is how I see it, trying my best to tamp down my homerism... I know most won't think I'm successful, especially Saints fans...

Quarterback: Saints .............That truly is arguable. I'm forced to say Drew because of his experience, plus he's awesome. But he seems to be weaker on the road than Russell is.
Running game: Seahawks .....Yup
Receivers: Saints .................Again, arguable. Tate, Harvin, Baldwin, Kearse, Lockette, plus Miller and Willson... I'd say Push.
Special teams: Saints............ This is wrong. Seahawks.
Pass rush: Saints ................. Really? I dunno. Maybe slightly, but we have an embarrassment of pass rushers right now.
Run defense: Seahawks ....... Hmmmm... We've been porous with a few teams lately. I'm not familiar enough with the Saints to make a call here.
Secondary: Seahawks ......... I'm a little impressed we got the nod with our pot smoker probs lately.
Coaching: Saints ................ I'll take Pete over Sean every time. Though I'm a little suspect over a couple of our assistant coaches.
Location: Seahawks ............ Well, duh.

I see your point, but it's a reasonable choice as the Saints are tied for first in sacks.

Yes, if you look at sack numbers and nothing else, but as we all know that's an overly simplistic way of evaluating a pass rush. As noted in the Pro Football Focus thread, when you combine sacks with hurries and QB hits, it isn't even close.

his editor's note is stupid. Using the punting game as a reason the saints have better st's. The seahawks have allowed what is it? 20 return yards total this season?

The media pundits love the Saints, and have for several years now. It is what it is.

He ranks them first in his power rankings then says he is not a believer. Isn't a power ranking supposed to reflect who you think the best team is?

Quarterback: Seahawks

Wilson and Brees classic efficiency numbers (passer rating, ANY/A) for the season are nearly identical, but Brees had nowhere near the adversity to deal with in terms of injuries to his supporting cast on offense. Brees has also played one more home game than Wilson has, and Brees carries a massive home/road split. Brees passer rating on the road is 25 points lower than Wilson's at home, and the game is being played in Seattle, probably in cold weather. If the game were in New Orleans, it would be Brees getting the nod here.

Running game: Seahawks

The Saints run game is under-rated, but this goes to Seattle. I could expound further, but I don't think anyone seriously contends this point.

Receivers: Seahawks

I assume this factors Graham. I don't know how you compare a TE to a WR. But if we took just the WRs from both teams and pooled them together, the best 3 would be Harvin, Tate, and Baldwin. The Saints best WR, arguably, is Kenny Stills, and Stills is very similar to Seattle's #4 guy, Jermaine Kearse. Graham is awesome in fantasy no question, but the difference of the on field contribution of Zach Miller and Jimmy Graham isn't as big as their fantasy differential would indicate.

Anyway, lets say Graham and Harvin cancel each other out. Sound fair? You look at the rest of the group, and Seattle has more playmakers left over. Seattle has more explosive plays this season than the Saints do, despite passing the football far, far less often. Oh, and that's with zero such plays coming from Harvin (kickoff returns don't count towards explosive plays).

Special teams: Seahawks

Anyone who thinks otherwise isn't well researched. Seattle's special teams supremacy over the entire NFL has been confirmed- emphatically- by football outsiders and PFF. They had the #1 special teams last season too (football outsiders).

Pass rush: Seahawks

PFF has Seattle's pass rush #1 in the NFL. The Saints are respectable so this one is decently close.

Run defense: Seahawks

Football Outsiders ranks the Saints run defense 30th. Seattle's ranks 12th. Run defense is one of the Saints few weaknesses. Funny thing is, it's Seattle's biggest weakness by ball movement category too. And they rank 12th.

Secondary: Seahawks

Forget the LoB reputation, Seattle has the #1 pass defense in the NFL (football outsiders) and it's not even close to 2nd place. The Seahawks pass defense is 5 times further from the median level than the Saints pass defense is. Seattle is losing a couple guys, but the dropoff to Maxwell and Lane is less than some might imagine.

Coaching: Toss up

I like Payton a ton, but Pete outcoached him pretty good in that playoff game a couple years ago. If I got to vote for coach of the year, Carroll and Payton would be my 1-2.

Location: Seahawks

Can't overstate how big this is not just for Seattle, but New Orleans as well.

Of course, this doesn't mean the Saints can't win. They are one of the NFL's best teams and a few big breaks could decide the game. But I think if they play this game 10 times, Seattle wins at least 7 of them.

Well, you know me, I'll just let DVOA decide it:

Quarterback: Saints ......Drew Brees outranks RW by DVOA and it's not even close.
Running game: Seahawks .....NO is 17th in Rush offense, Seattle is 4th
Receivers: Even ...........NO is 3rd in passing, Seattle is 5th, but Seattle now has Harvin, so that's a push
Special teams: SEAHAWKS........Come on now!
Pass rush: Even .........DVOA ranks NO 1st and Seattle 6th, PFF has Seattle #1 and NO around 6th. so that's a push.
Run defense: Seahawks ....... Seattle is ranked 12th, NO is ranked 30th, so yeah, no brainer.
Secondary: Seahawks ........LOB baby!
Coaching: Even ..........Pete outcoached Peyton in their first meeting, but both these teams have great HC's.
Location: Seahawks ........12th man :)

Yeah, Seattle 30 New Orleans 16,

Yeah, Seattle 30 New Orleans 16,

I don't have access to FO's paid stats. Is Brees on the road really higher than Wilson at home in DVOA?

Like QBR, DVOA punishes QBs for getting sacked. That explains why Brees is so far ahead in that category despite their passing offenses being neck and neck. IMO, it's pretty silly to punish QBs for having poor protection. Should be weighted in the opposite direction, if anything.

Neutral field, I take Brees. In Seattle, it's Wilson. I'd put it this way: If you could put money on Brees or Wilson having the higher passer rating at the end of the game, who are you betting on?
