Unless Milroe comes alive, Darnold is getting paid next year. Even if we cut him, he still costs 19.2 mil against the cap. That’s about 20.7 million in 2026 dollars (accounting for the likely magnitude of the cap increase)

I’m not saying it would be a good idea to try to save on cap to use for next year, just that if we don’t find something worth spending it on, we will definitely spend it next year.
My crystal ball says... it's more likely that Sam has another really good year... significantly cutting back his fumble and INT turnover rates... and gets rewarded with a 3-year extension that reduces his (now) $45M cap hit in 2027 to something south of $40M. And Milroe's future as a Seahawks becomes very uncertain.

That is very much what I think will happen. There will be plenty of other players to spread that cap to, though I am not advocating for that at all.

Already the best team in the best Division in football and all four NFC West teams are in good shape cap wise. Looks like our iron sharpens iron will continue. Go Hawks!
