PFF opined that the Hawks climbed from #9 to #7 after the Bengal game which we messed up and didn't win.

Our defense tackling and coverage both improved, but strangely, our run blocking also jumped from #22 to #8.

Nice info. Still a super long season ahead. That graph really puts it into perspective.

Do you know what we were this time last year because I feel like while we haven’t got the results in terms of finishing, we are better statistically this year than last at this time.

Last year after the Saints game, I wanna say the offense was better than average but maybe not top 10 (11-13) but the Lions and Saints games were offensive clinics so who knows. And the defense was definitely in the bottom 10 (23-32).

But PFF also grades in mysterious ways lol, our overall ranking moved up after a lost. I guess both SF and Philly might played a part in it.
I mentioned this in one of the Geno threads: we were extremely efficient on both sides of the ball, so despite losing and looking inept scoring, almost every metric would ultimately favor our performance.

That's also probably why Pete was so optimistic after the game. We dominated that game.

Interestingly, according pff, in comparison to 9ers:

On offense, we have better pass blocking and passing, more or less equal in running but they have way better run blocking. Their receiving is night and day better than us, (paging Mr. DK).

On defense, they are better at coverage (paging our safeties and Woolen), they are better at tackling too, way better. BUT, we are better at run defense.

We could win by couple of scores too, football God willing.

So redzone scoring, penalties, 4th down conversions and turnovers.

Did the Seahawks really dominate that game? If we're being honest with ourselves.

I would say, penalties and they just didn't have the best play calls with-in the redzone and the OL wasn't really holding up when it counted, Jake Curhan was a HUGE liability, the fact that they were taping up his ankle like that spoke volumes as he probably had no movement. I know Cross got beat a few times too but to me it looked much worse on Curhan's side

No they didn't dominate, but they played good enough to win by 2 scores if they don't make a couple bad mistakes. They had more rushing and passing yards, 3rd down completion, yards per play, top, total plays, and forced punts. Some of those stats they did dominate Cincy in like every yards metric, forced punts(6 to 3), and total plays(70 to 53).

Regarding efficiency—which is what my post was about—yes, we dominated that game. In other words, Seattle was a significantly better team on a play-to-play basis. You can point to several metrics for why we lost, all of which are fair, but that wasn't the point I was making.

Yeah I don't understand the run blocking grade. They did get like 95 yards but nothing big but that one run from Walker. IDK maybe it just seems that way.

Yup. The only thing that didn't go right was the W. The defense is very much improved over last year.

The offensive ganeplanning, flow, and pass route concepts leave much to be desired.

Why we don't commit more to the run with the backs we have, I don't know. Charnonnet is a weapon Shane seems content to leave on the bench.

Similarly, we refuse to run routes that emphasize YAC.

All that said, those are problems we can fix. This seasons outcome, for the first time in a long time, feels like one entirely in our control.

Well........wide open receivers wondering where the ball is when they have an easy TD.
And, some very strange play calling on the offensive side after that 1st drive.
