I haven't seen this posted anywhere yet so if it has already been discussed, my bad. I don't know how many of you caught this, but Aaron Rodgers said this after beating the Bears on Sunday ...

"I think the NFC is wide open," Rodgers said. "I think from 1 to 6 there are a lot of talented teams. There are some teams that haven't been up as the lead dog before but wanted to, and some teams with championship experience sitting down at the bottom half."

Now on the surface, I understand this completely. He's defending his own team and saying look out for us in the playoffs. I get that.

However, I find it hard to overlook the fact that his comments are also a bit of a slam against the Seahawks and Panthers. If I'm Richard Sherman, I've already got this posted up in the locker room. Anyone doubt that's already happened? Bad idea to give any team out there any kind of bulletin board material especially at this time of year.

The Packers are given my respect, that being said.

Rodgers go home, you're drunk.

I pointed this quote out in Aros's post about wanting to play the 9ers first. I took it as the slam against the Panthers and Seahawks as it was meant to be. I am sure in his mind, if he doesn't get hurt, the Packers would have been the #1 seed.

It's all good. No need to be a shrinking violet if that is how he feels. Just shows you have to earn it. But if you look at the 6 NFC playoff teams, the 3 bottom seeds all have been to the Superbowl recently and 2 have won it. So in that light, the experience factor does sit in the bottom half of the bracket. Strange things do happen in the playoffs. Just have to prove the doubters wrong.

well, the 4, 5, and 6 seed have won the superbowl or have at least been there. I still don't think they can win here, though. Carolina has the best chance because they have a stingy defense and lead the league in sacks. They can give Russ trouble.

This week might be the only time ever I root for the 49ers, I really just hate the Packers. Sorry guys.

He's just trying to get everybody riled-up. That's his smart-ass style.

The Packers will want to make sure they don't let their "Championship" defense let them down.

Aaron Rodgers feels to this day that he was robbed last year and it's affected his perceptions and judgement when it comes to Seattle....and he's not been shy about saying so.

Well he killed us in the second half of that game with dinks and dunks. So if they do get here we need to be prepared to defend that type of game.

We did sack him like 6 times in the first half but he brought his team back and lost on the controversial call of the season last year so perhaps we should remember that.

If I'm the Packers, I'm feeling it's great that my starting QB has this kind of confidence. However, to make these kinds of PUBLIC comments knowing you're possibly going to go up against the #1 Defense in the toughest environment in the NFL is just plain stupid. He's liable to become a permanent part of the turf at Century Link.

the packers are basically the same team we beat early last season.

Unfortunately for the Packers we are a far better team across the board than the one that beat them early last season.

The problem is their destiny to get revenge is blocked by the 49ers, who own their ass. He needs to worry about finding a way to beat SF and then worry about us when the time comes.

Doesn't matter anyway, at least initially. Saints will beat the Eagles so we will have a rematch against them in our divisional game.

You are going to hate this weekend. Sorry. But the Niners live in Dom Capers head, and his defense is just plain outmatched.

On the surface, one would think Rodgers is enough to beat the Niners. The list of QBs the Niners have lost to this year is elite: Brees, Newton, Wilson, Luck.

But none of that changes the simple fact that Capers defense is completely outclassed by the Niners offense. They can't press the Niners, they can't blitz the niners, and they died vs Kaepernick trying to play zone. What's left?

Packers defense isn't very good. They seem to have found a running game. I hope all of the Packer fans come out of the woodwork right before they get stomped in the playoffs.

Everyone knows the playoffs are a crap shoot. So he's right, it's wide open. There are six talented teams, he's right again. The top seeds haven't been there before but wanted to, again correct. Teams with prior experience are sitting on the bottom, also correct.

Where's the slam? Where's the insult?

You guys are too thin skinned, my god.

DAable-check has taken one to many shots to the noggin... I think the only way the NFC is "wide open" is if they let teams 2-6 in the NFC assemble the best team they can muster up (an All-Star team if you will)—then MAYBE they'd have a chance against us. :) #Confidence

NFC may be wide open for teams other than GB. For Rodgers it won't be after this weekend. Rodgers plays offense not defense. They may put up points but the GB defense can't stop anybody with or without Matthews.

I don't see anything remotely wrong with what was said. Its the NFL, so its any given Sunday. In the playoffs, its even more of a crap shoot. Any given Saturday/Sunday
