It's time for some evolution on the part of the organization so we don't blow this era.

1. Free agent avg NFL O lineman. I'm tired of drafting and developing. We don't need a #1 O line. We'd kick but with a 15th ranked O line. Please address this in free agency, not the draft. Doesn't need to be top dogs to be an improvement.

2. New OC. We need fresh eyes on the talent we have.

3. New OC, keep Jimmy. Same OC, trade him for two good O lineman. Tired of seeing his talent wasted being a chip blocker because of our college O line. It would be sad to see his talent walk, but...

4. Goodbye to Kearse. Awesome contributor in some big moments, but he's done. PRich needs to play even when Locket is back.

5. If new OC ( keeping Jimmy), we could have a pass formation with Baldwin Locket Richardson Graham and Procise routing out of the backfield. That's a matchup nightmare and not rocket science.

6. Russ commits to a strong offseason regiment to regain his explosiveness.

Keep the era alive by evolving (not by throwing more).

A few improvements in O line personnel and coaching, and we're right back where we need to be.

we can't keep everyone if we want to seriously upgrade the OL. A key part of the defence will have to go to make salary room. Can't have our cake and eat it too...

Especially when they don't perform. We can keep them but they will need to take less. The defense was a top notch unit because of the whole. On an individual basis they are aren't worth their cap impact at current salaries. On offense Russ may be worth his number but it would behoove him to take a little less or buy his own tackle.

Guys got to take pay cuts to stay together. We absolutely need a real offense line! Or this will happen over and over and over again

Agree with the main title with a few observations:

1. Free agent avg NFL O lineman. I'm tired of drafting and developing. We don't need a #1 O line. We'd kick but with a 15th ranked O line. Please address this in free agency, not the draft. Doesn't need to be top dogs to be an improvement.

to be more specific, get a real LT and even pay for him if we have to, keep the interior, draft 1 or 2 RT's as well as pick up a fairly cheap average free agent if one is available. Can keep fant to develop, maybe practice squad or whatever, but we need to protect Russ's blindside now. I think we also have to look at OL philosophy as under cable it has never been stellar. I would be open to a change at this coaching position as well, but there is an argument to be had about whether he is a good coach doing the best he can with trash. Still undecided myself on cable, but leaning toward replacement. A new OC and a new line coach at the same time might be best if shaking things up is also a goal.

2. New OC. We need fresh eyes on the talent we have.

Full agreement

3. New OC, keep Jimmy. Same OC, trade him for two good O lineman. Tired of seeing his talent wasted being a chip blocker because of our college O line. It would be sad to see his talent walk, but...

Same oc would still be running the same route trees and have the inability to adjust or utilize the other talent we have. New OC, keep Jimmy is the best choice IMO

4. Goodbye to Kearse. Awesome contributor in some big moments, but he's done. PRich needs to play even when Locket is back.

Kearse is super cheap next year, so I would keep him. I would drop him to behind prich, but as prich and lockett could go down to injury, we need a plug in guy, and at his price I don't think there is a better choice available. Cut him after next year if he keeps dropping everything though.

5. If new OC ( keeping Jimmy), we could have a pass formation with Baldwin Locket Richardson Graham and Procise routing out of the backfield. That's a matchup nightmare and not rocket science.

Word

6. Russ commits to a strong offseason regiment to regain his explosiveness.

Word up

Keep the era alive by evolving (not by throwing more).

I agree all the way. This team is still loaded with talent, and still close to the mountain top, but a few changes, high up, must be made.

At this point, the Pete and Russ brand of optimism is bordering on denial. They have to admit that something is wrong, something is holding us back, and address it.

We need to get better on the O-Line. No point in paying Wilson all that money without protecting him.

We need to dump some salary on defense. Get younger, faster and hungrier in the secondary. I love Kam and Sherman, but maybe it's time to move on without them? KJ can go, too. Invest in the defensive line. Get some bulk in the middle so we can get an inside rush.

Haushka, Ryan and Kearse can go, too.

I will not be disappointed if Richard, Cable and Bevell are gone also.

perhaps comPete should involve the coaches comPeting for THEIR jobs.
Gotta be someone with a new vision rather than Bevell's old dirty glasses.
Paging Mr. Shanahan, paging Mr. Kyle Shanahan.

I like option 1, above. pay for a pro bowl LT, grab two guards and a RT from free agency and play comPete on the O-line too. Send Cable to the niners, he could live in Oakland and frequent the bars in disguise, beating up old homeless people... now that he's slimmed down.
