So, did any else here know that right now, the NFC West has the longest active streak of playoff teams with at least 1 playoff win? The '04 Hawks were the last NFC West team to lose their playoff opener. Since St. Louis beat Seattle in January 2005, these are the following NFC West playoff teams and their runs:
05 Seahawks: Beat Redskins 20-10, Beat Panthers 34-14, Lost to Refs, 21-10 in SBXL.
06 Seahawks: Beat Cowboys 21-20, Lost to Bears 27-24 (OT)
07 Seahawks: Beat Redskins 35-14, Lost to Packers 42-20
08 Cardinals: Beat Falcons 30-24, Beat Panthers 33-13, Beat Eagles 32-25, Lost to Steelers 27-23 in SBXLIII
09 Cardinals: Beat Packers 51-45, Lost to Saints 45-14
10 Seahawks: Beat Saints 41-36 (BEASTQUAKE!), Lost to Bears 35-24
11 49ers: Beat Saints 36-32, Lost to Giants 20-17 (OT)
12 Seahawks: Beat Redskins 24-14, Lost to Falcons 30-28
12 49ers: Beat Packers 45-31, Beat Falcons 28-24, Lost to Ravens 34-31
13 49ers: Beat Packer 23-20, Beat Panthers 23-10, Lost to Seahawks 23-17
13 Seahawks: Beat Saints 23-15, Beat 49ers 23-17, Beat Broncos 43-8
The second longest current streak for any division in the NFL is the AFC East, in which every playoff team has won at least 1 playoff game each year since 2011. Which means, the NFC West's current streak is 3 times longer than any other.
Also interestingly, in that time period every single team that has made the playoffs at least once outside of the NFC West, with the lone exception of the Houston Texans, has had at least 1 playoff appearance where they were 1 and done. Here is all the 1 and done playoff teams since 2005:
05: Bears, Bengals, Buccaneers, Colts, Jaguars, Giants
06: Chargers, Chiefs, Cowboys, Giants, Jets, Ravens
07: Buccaneers, Colts, Cowboys, Redskins, Steelers, Titans
08: Colts, Dolphins, Falcons, Giants, Panthers, Titans, Vikings
09: Bengals, Chargers, Eagles, Packers, Patriots
10: Chiefs, Colts, Eagles, Patriots, Falcons, Saints
11: Bengals, Falcons, Lions, Packers, Steelers
12: Bengals, Broncos, Colts, Redskins, Vikings
13: Bengals, Chiefs, Eagles, Packers, Panthers
I just found it interesting that, while the NFC West maybe hasn't always been world beaters, we haven't been an easy out.
