FYI, Ohtani strikes out more than Julio.

Ohtani had 611 AB's during the regular season, and struck out 187 times.

Julio had 652 AB's, and struck out 152 times.

Just for funsies, let's compare that to the guy that is widely considered the best hitter in baseball, Aaron Judge. Judge had 541 AB's, and struck out 160 times.

For those keeping score, Julio had significantly more AB's than either Ohtani or Judge, and also struck out fewer times than either of them (significantly fewer than Ohtani).

Oh, Cal strikes out significantly more than Julio too.

Now, I'm not saying Julio couldn't or shouldn't do better (especially with the low and away sliders), but I am saying that Julio gets a lot more sh@t than he really deserves, imo, and A LOT more sh@t about the K's than other guys that strike out more than he does.
These are some really interesting and cool stats. Thanks. If he does learn to lay off that slider look out MLB.

Tip of the cap to Toronto. Didn't think they had it in them, they clearly do. Honestly, I'm feeling a lot better about how damn close the M's came against Toronto. I might hate Toronto, but they're proving to be the best team in baseball. Then again, haven't watched one live inning yet.
Wish they could both lose 🤣

I heard the Jays won. So they came back to win two in LA after being down 1-2 in the series after losing in an 18 inning game...that's pretty impressive. It's making me think we could have beaten the Dodgers.
No doubt. I'm like many, figured it was just Dodgers repeat no matter what. The M's absolutely CAN hang with any team in baseball. They've already proven that at this point. Sure would have been nice to find out how they would have done vs. the Dodgers. Everyone will have their opinion on it, but I think this is a start, not an end for the M's. They're equipped to be very good for a long while, imo. IF they don't go on the cheap. They've never had more momentum than they do right now. Strike while it's hot. I think they're going to the WS within the next 2 years.

I'm done doubting this team. Pretty much every time they looked toast, they came back. As pissed as I am about the ALCS, I also can tip the cap to Toronto. Down 2-0 and down 3-2 against the M's. Did what they had to do to get it done.
I will never agree with Wilson's decision in game 7, but they also had plenty of opportunities to score more runs.

Wow. Tony Gwynn was just ridiculous.
He really was.

In order for his career batting average to drop below .300 - if he were to come back today - he would have to go hitless in 1183 at bats in a row.

If his 20-year career were split into two careers, 10 seasons apiece, he would rank first and second in franchise history in runs, hits, total bases and doubles.

Gwynn had ONE three strikeout game during his career. Eleven major leaguers strike out three times each on and average MLB saturday.

I had given up hope for the moosehumpers after that soul ripping loss. Kudos to them for coming back.

So many similarities between the M’s loss in game 7 and Toronto blowing this game.
