To my ignorance about everything stats ; i just recently realized that Russell Wilson ; with all the stats and some NFL QB records ; he has never been a 1st team all- pro . And what is also new to my memory that Tyler L...gets a 1st team all- pro as a rookie . Someone please explain WTF is going on here. This is nothing against lockett but what's the thing with no all-pro for Wilson? New topics let alone any topics ,this time of year are hard to come bye...soooo ? :snack:

Not sure what there's not to understand. All-pro means best at your position in the league. Wilson has never been league-best QB, wither statistically or in popularity. He gets overshadowed in yards because we run.

Lockett led the league in kickoff and punt returns, so he got first-team All Pro as a rookie.

Ok thanks....I thought that Wilson had been the best at his position more than once already . So in the Hawks offense Wilson may never be 1st team all-pro ?

You're going to have to accept that he's just merely EXCEPTIONAL....I mean, he's > ONLY < #18 of the 25 TOP Quarterbacks OF ALL TIME. :smilingalien:

I was looking into it some more and it seems like it's not just a performance issue ; but also a popularity contest too . So it actually doesn't always seem a fair and square honor to receive ; same with the MVP pick every year . These awards should be given for merit alone or they really don't mean much . IMO

What season would you have thought he was the best QB in the league?

Guessing the 2014 & 2015 seasons . The point here is that it looks like Wilson gets snubbed for these selections. Just wondering why. To say he has never been good enough makes no sense . Oh well just another BS topic I suppose . :0190l:

His Media Market, we are West Coast is a lot of it, then being out of California comes into play, again market, then the fact we don't have a flashy gaudy offense. If we had won at least one more Super Bowl he would be up at least 5 spots also. Then the fact he is really a boring individual for the media to talk to, no controversy, no statements that can be misconstrued and spun. Does not get rattled and bothered in his interviews etc. Does not seek out the camera and try to be a star.

The feed trough is very limited for Media with him.

I like Wilson. I don't think there's been a season I would have seriously considered him best QB in the league. Top 5? Without a doubt. #1? Um, no.

All pro QB is a volume award, not an efficiency award. TD and passing yards are all the voters look at rather than QB rating and TD/Int ratios. Nor do they look at rushing numbers.

So I doubt Russell ever wins an All pro slot. There will always be a passer with 4000 yds and 30 tds to surpass him.

Ok, I think I've already covered his exceptionality # 18 of 25 ALL TIME best Quarterbacks, and he still gets snubbed by Know-It All's that don't know their posterior cavity from a hole in the ground.....and that includes some here on .NET. :17:

What it boils down to is, while his over all stats are always great, as a percentage of opportunity, and he wins. That is not what the people who vote for look at. In addition, realize that most of the voters don't watch all the games, they simply see highlights, see stats, and listen to the talking heads. I mean let me remind everyone that Wilson is the only QB to account for over 80% of his teams offensive yards and over 95% of their offensive TDs. What hurt him that year we did not make the playoffs. Why we had a kicker miss 5 game winning field goals. The other issue would be to vote him MVP or All pro would mean some would need to admit they are wrong and a under 6 foot black QB can be great, and some will not do it. I mean look on this board and the supposed Hawks fans who think he is garbage, or at best avg, if our own fans over look him why would the voters do anything different. There is a reason PFF voted him the most under appreciated Qb.

All good points ; but snubbing is what it boils down to for whatever reason. It makes these accolades look bogus . IMO

A few around here seem to have persecution complexes on Russ's behalf, but it isn't really a snub if a QB is elected to the pro bowl as an alternate. There are only a couple of spots and Drew Brees was just insanely good last season.

Obviously most of us here would argue that Wilson is a better choice than Aaron Rodgers based on 2018 alone, but Rodgers is still riding on that inertia gained earlier in his career when he was considered by many to be the best QB in NFL history. The NFC QB race is likely wide open next season with Brees hitting age 40, Rodgers going through a coaching change, and some of the shine coming off Goff from that Superbowl debacle.

I can honestly say that I have never got online and voted for pro-bowl selections ; which fans count towards 1/3 the tally.
The other big awards are the all-pro selections , picked by players and the media ; and the HOF entries chosen by just 48 people . IMHO...just give me a good down and dirty football game to watch ;cuz the rest seems to be BS.

Even if you don’t want to consider volume, only efficiency, every year there is someone that has far more volume than him AND better efficiency. He’s also playing at the same time as some of the greatest ever. His greatest attribute is his consistency. Frankly, he’s not as good as Brees or Brady, didn’t have seasons like Cam, Ryan, Rodgers or Mahomes put up. He’s on HOF pace and is one of the highest rated qbs ever, but he’s not going to have those insane seasons.

To be fair he led the NFL in passer rating in 2015 and the NFL in touchdowns in 2017 but yeah the big thing is he will never throw for 5,000 yards and 40 touchdowns.

Still a Hall of Famer

Tical makes a really good point here. This team has never had an offense that would allow Russ to just sling it and put up huge numbers. But his efficiency, his TD/INT ratio, his leadership and consistency is among the best of all time. Let alone his ability to close out a game and his blatant refusal to ever give up, which sets him apart from most QB's. But these voters are mainly about volume, always have been. Russ is one of the top 5 or 6 QB's in the league and will continue to be so. I just don't think he'll ever win an MVP, and that's fine. He's certainly capable of it, but that's not how this team is run. I'll take his numbers over a 5K plus yard guys like Stafford, Ryan, Clam etc. who do nothing in the playoffs and/or when the game is on the line. Russ is better than most QB's in the league, and fits perfectly with this team and what Pete wants to do.
