This was debunked somewhere or taken out of context i'm sure for a hot take.

This sort of thing is so clearly discriminatory I don't understand how/why the players unions don't fight it.

It's taken out of context though.

He is NOT paying $200,000 on a $178,000 bonus.

He is paying $200,000 on $4,500,000 in total earnings from his games in California, of which the bonus is a very small amount.
He is being taxed on the $178k "earned in CA", plus he is being taxed on his regular salary for the year based on percentage of "duty days" spent in CA. if he has 200 duty days in a season, then they tax him on 7/200ths of his full season earnings.

That is just for the Bowl. He has 2-4 more days for the regular season games, so he is taxed on ~10/200ths of his total earnings plus 100% of the $178k.

I don't care about a millionaire's taxes. Sorry they have to buy 1 less SUV for their au pair.
It's not the money.

It's the principle of it all.

And to have NFL players get taxed just 'cause they play a game on the road against the Whiners or Rams every season (it's not just the Superbowl) is absolute garbage.

I can't believe the NFLPA is tolerating this shit.

Just looked it up (google AI'd it) :

Approximately 21 states and several municipalities, such as Cleveland and Detroit, levy these (Jock)taxes on visiting professional athletes. While California is known for having one of the highest rates (up to 13.3%), it is a widespread practice among states with income tax.

So 21 other states do this too.

But Cali has the highest rate that they tax.

I think this thread is a bit over-the-top.

It made me believe that Cali was the only state that had this Jock Tax.

Thanks for wasting my time, Ycrew.
