Some people are born natural leaders. Mac has that innate ability to tap into another person’s motivations and get as much out of that player as possible.

While he may not have started as the most skilled public speaker, perhaps coming across a bit awkward and stiff, he’s definitely grown in that department.

Also, he had mentioned in his first season that he was having issues with time management, trying to squeeze everything into one day. It appears he’s learned how to delegate. Him being transparent about his shortcomings is refreshing and, imo, the best quality in a true leader. I believe you can earn other’s trust when you are honest about yourself first.

He is just so even keeled and balanced neither too rah rah nor total dictator. He might already be the best situational coach in the NFL even though he’s still in his toddler phase.

Unless we suffer big time injuries (knock on wood), its hard to ever envision him ever leading a team to a losing record. He just on top of everything that it takes in both mental and physical preparation, travel, rest, learning opportunities, strategy, etc., for a club to be a winner.

It can't be overstated just how perfectly the organization nailed this hire. It's always a gamble when you go from one coach to another. Is the new coach gonna be better? Worse? Same?...

I have to believe they waited intentionally for a candidate like MM to appear before moving on from PC. Despite how the laters years panned out, he was still the franchises most successful coach, you don't move on from that guy for just anyone.

And, as we all know by now, MM wasn't just anyone. Not just because of his defensive prowess, but for his leadership & demeanor. Just gotta give major props to the organization for nailing the timing & the hire. A Lombardi in 2 years? Damn impressive! So glad our team is run by people who know how to win!

I have all the confidence in him. I think he's the type of coach that can adjust if it appears offences are catching up to him. I think a real attribute is he is genuine and totally knows who he is, and players respect that. When he did the late night talk show tour he was asked if he yells at the players. He said that he never played pro ball so these guys are not going to respect him yelling at them.

This year he beat the 2 guys in his division that everyone claims are the 2 best in the league on the way to the Super Bowl.

He is for defense, what Holmgren was for offense.

The difference is that defense wins championships.

So Yes, outside of Mora, Mac 10 is the best Coach in Seahawks history!

Look what this guy did against Shanny twice in a period of a month. It’s refreshing to not have to worry about getting completely out coached at times. Pete was great, but he was outsmarted on the field from time to time and made some of the most boneheaded decisions I’ve ever seen.

You could argue our division has the three best coaches in the entire league. The fact that Mac went through this NFC west and won a Super Bowl in year two is wild. He also did it with a team that was projected (by most) to be mid at best. It’s not like he pulled a Gruden in TB and took someone else’s elite team to a ring.

There will be challenges. There always is. However, Big Mac has already solidified himself as a force in the league and a top 3 coach in team history.

The League will adjust. How will he adjust in response? Longevity in the NFL is very difficult. I'm anxious to see how he keeps the D unpredictable.
I think you will see new wrinkles on D this year...MM seems to like the cutting edge or as he says chasnig edges!

From what some people said he even adjusted last year to his personal. What I read was once MM realized how good his front 4 is, he dialed back some of his exotic pass rushes and relied on that front. Maybe he caught the Pats by surprise cause he sure confounded them and did a lot of stuff that game.

I think it’s still too early to call him the greatest. He won the Super Bowl only two years faster than Pete did. Despite the last few years of his coaching career, I still believe Pete is the greatest.
  1. Pete C.
  2. M. Mac
  3. M. Holmgren

Pete spent nearly a decade decimating what he built. That alone puts him behind MM at this point.

I disagree. Holmgren had a rigid (comparatively) scheme and a knack for finding the right players to fit into it. When he had the right talent, he was nearly unstoppable. Once he had too many square pegs and only round holes things started to go south. No matter what the data showed him, he stilled demanded his square pegs do round hole work.

Pete was similar. Scheme not system.

MM is system. He gets the best talent he can and then evolves the system to match the talent. This bodes well for longevity. Of course, everything ends up stagnating in the end but I think MM can have a longer tenure than Pete with more success.

Carroll strength was he was personable with players. And that’s cool for a mentor. Not good for long term football success.

Macdonald, is a straight up football savant!

The guy, absolutely lives and breathes football strategy and Xs and Os. Macdonald, will out scheme you, and is always a master technician of the chess board.

That is what long term success builds its foundation around. Once, players understand your system and sees it work, short term and long term, it is a unanimous buy in to the program.

Macdonald has some strict rules compared to Carroll, and this is not a slight in the least at all at Macdonald, but even a blind man can see that the labor and discipline needed for Mac’s team absolutely pays off.

And think more players are gravitate towards the genuine and genius of Mac as opposed to a “players coach” that has no idea how to game plan.

Mac, is equally tough on coaches as he demands from players.

This is what is most important!

We are in for some GREAT years with Mac!

I’m telling you, DOT NET, we are absolutely in the GOLDEN ERA, of Seahawks football!

Seattle struck absolute GOLD, OIL, WATER, ELECTRICITY, NUCLEAR POWER, with Macdonald! And I for one, couldn’t be any happier and grateful!

And all that is left is whoever buys the Seahawks, understand to absolutely stay the F away from all of the football operations and let Schneider and Mac run the entire show!

Go DOT NET and Go Seahawks!

I’m sold. Mac, has innovated ideas. And seems to be on the cutting edge of schemes and strategy. More importantly, he’s equally driven and brilliant like our GM is.

Dot Net, we are in the GOLDEN ERA of Seahawks football!

Let’s enjoy it and APPRECIATE it!

We’ve been in for over a decade.
Starting with Pete’s tenure there is only 1, possibly 2 teams with greater success.

If MM continues the trend not only will our bandwagon fill up again, we’ll gain a butt load more haters.

I’m thinking he may be a young this guy in terms of his football mind.
Hopefully MM retires even more successful.
